I agree with this. Even WoW doesn't let you take a flight path unless you've run there and discovered it, first.I dont know if anima will stay or be replaced but either way i dont think it makes sense that we are alowed to be ported by a friend to areas weve never had to walk to first. You should only be able to accept a port to an area that you have visited before in the past. No need to be in a rush all the time.

True, but mage portals are only to seven major cities and a PvP zone. Maybe it's splitting hairs, but you still can't remove the world exploration aspect from the game by allowing it.
Normally I wouldn't think it was a big deal in 1.0. But considering there are exploration achievements for aetheryte attunement in this game, I don't think it's right you can get the attunement without first running there yourself.
Even in WoW, unless you know a Warlock and two friends who are really bored (good luck), there is no way you are getting this without putting in the work, yourself.

Agreed, in 2.0 we are getting maps which fill in as we discover them supposedly, I'm assuming there will be achievements for that as well.True, but mage portals are only to seven major cities and a PvP zone. I also expect there to be a lot less Aerthyte, some are going to be ripped from the ground, I doubt Aertheial gates will exist any more, we've already seen the Garlean Empire destroy one of them.
We are moving away from large seamless zones to smaller ones, which will probably have 1 Aerthrtye per zone if that.
A lot of changes are coming, I agree about you shouldn't get teleported to a crystal you haven't attuned with though, guess time will tell what their plans are for that.

Can't the Circle of Knowing make new Aeths, though? >.>; Like the intra-city teleports.
On-topic, I think you should have to run to camps before you can teleport them, but I wouldn't be upset if you started out able to teleport to the three (four?) cities, since they are not created equal (everyone needs all three for the main scenario and needs Ul'dah to be able to play; it's not like XI where, starting in Windy, you wouldn't need to set foot in Bastok until a mission required, and all of your missions were Windurst-centric).
It helps new players out. I've hated telling friends I'm introducing to the game "Yeah, you have to run to all these crystals first." They didn't play very long after that. Then I found out I could've just ported them there.
Maybe in 2.0, when the maps are worth exploring. But for now I see no issue.
Okay, this is a recent change I wasn't aware of. But seems it only opens up flight paths to zones that are level appropriate, not all of them right away.
This is fairly new, coming about halfway through Cataclysm with the Firelands raid patch, in a game that is 7-1/2 years old. At this point, the game is generally not bringing in new players. People have multiple characters at 85, exploration is nothing new, and achievements are done to death.A flight point is manned by a single level 85 NPC, most often elite. They are known as flight masters. Prior to Patch 4.2.0, a flight path must first have been "discovered" by visiting an area's flight master, who would grant access to their flight point's route. Since 4.2.0, however, players will automatically learn flight paths for areas that are level-appropriate for them. The option still exists to track down those that are higher level the old-fashioned way. If a flight master has a flight path to teach you, a green ! will appear above his or her head, and the flight master will appear as a ! on your mini-map. Source
Still, exploration achievements in WoW aren't completed by collecting flight paths, but by unlocking the map (which is done by running around the zone), and some places cannot be reached without a personal flying mount. In FFXIV, exploration achievements are completed by attuning with aetheryte and other players can teleport you right to them.
