High Fantasy just means fantasy that takes place in a world that's not the real world. So 13 and 15 are absolutely high fantasy. Low Fantasy would be something like The World Ends with You, which we haven't seen any glam inspiration from. This topic is always so funny because "doesnt fit this world" doesnt make sense when this game is 87% Past Reference Final Fantasy Fanservice.
We've had ingame events for ff13 and 15, hardly hi-fantasy games.
The glam designers are very aware modern style ff like 7, 8, and 10 are their most popular games (well 8 sold more copies than 7 on release anyway). They know many ff fans are also big fans of kingdom hearts, also very not hi-fantasy. The characters styles are wildly popular and used at every cosplay event in existence.
We always could get more renaissance style fantasy gear (we just did via Rinascita gear) but ff1-6 are hardly hot tickets for cosplay in comparison. The lv1 all class glam designers are catering to whats popular and dressing like lotr and game of thrones extras aint it.
Yeah i didnt like how the top looks with that little stupid cape in the back and those “what are thooooooooooose?” shoes lol I wear it and mixed it with Prince Lucian shirt or Casual top and casual shoes xD
The problem with these sort of things is that it is highly subjective. For every person that dislikes the glam options in EW there's another who loves them. I personally over half of my glam plates set with glam items that were added with EW, with the chest piece portion being the biggest thing from EW. Not to mention the weapons.
I gotta agree with the idea of chuckling at “glamour that fit the world bit” but it also reminds me that XIV brings in a lot of new players to final fantasy.
Where we can take on a walking tank complete with cannons and guns with a sword and shield. Where the idyllic paradise world everyone wore the same style robe with a mask over their face to cull any individuality. Where a giant steampunk mech can arise out of a river and be beaten back by a handful of adventurer’s with medieval armor.
You can have robots to ride along in, a motorcycle, a flying motorcycle, a robot that can transform into an airship.
But god help us if we have anything approaching modern aesthetic for our clothing. That’s crossing the line. That’s spoiling immersion.
Especially the optional glamours that are not forced on you. Like ones from treasure dungeon mats or mogstation. Lord forbid people enjoy different aesthetics. That’s “not fit for the game world” the same game world filled with so many oxymorons that make ff what it is.
Half the minions people have are tiny automatons… but the people of the world cant figure out how to put out different styles of clothing. Sewing in new styles is too hard.. but hey they can build a rocketship to the end of the universe thats believable.
Maybe Guild Wars 2 is more to your liking *snickers*
I don't care if it fits or not, although seeing everyone in modern daily wear really gets tiring. I care about the beauty of the pieces, and this patch(Lawless enforcer)'s set is so ugly. We've seen everything it has before, the fedora, the pants, the shoe, even the shirt is very similar to other things we already have.
Can't we have more short skirts, dresses or fantasy style cute stuff? No, Frontier dress DOES NOT COUNT.
I blame it on the push for gear that fits both genders and I hate it.
Personally, I like modern, though I want to sort of balance modern with more aspects of fantasy to feel more in place over all. I don't necessarily want to look like a pizza delivery guy isekaied into Final Fantasy. In general, though, I want to see overall more sort of neo chic style things. Think stuff like arknights where there's elements of modern, utilitarian type of of clothes, but accented with lots of details that elevate it comfortably into the realm of fantasy. Nier stuff too, having more of those elements are what I want to see in future sets.
I also want to see, in general, more take on things like shorts, visible socks long or short, and also more chic winter clothing so it's not just the rebel coat on everyone, or the ramie poncho which is heavily overused on NPCs.

Well OP we're not playing the same game. I'm playing FFXIV, not FFX 14.
