The mammets ruin it a bit for me. The island as a whole is beautiful, the music is nice, I like that there are different areas for resources and animals. It all still feels like a beta version at rank 7 but I suppose they'll expand on it bit by bit. Hopefully.

But then you have the mammets everywhere and overall it doesn't give off the feeling of an island sanctuary for me but rather an island factory. Like you're just here to urbanize and exploit an untouched island, my "cozy" cabin is stuffed with mammets and I only have one screened-off bed in this office-like building surrounded by production facilities. The dialogues don't help combat this feeling either with all the "Mwahahaha let's cut down trees and make everything bigger and more productive!".
It's still a nice side activity but they completely missed the mark for me for an island sanctuary.

I guess that's their culture showing through. Robots are doing a lot of the labor, while over in the west, folks would prefer slaves.

I had the same feeling and I agree, it's the absolute opposite of what I want to be doing on a pristine tropical island.

Maybe it would have been okay if it was a top-level customisation choice whether you go the brutal industrial route or minimal-footprint eco-tourism route? But not as the whole enforced attitude of the place.

Perhaps also a choice between the spreadsheet management route and some other good viable way of earning cowries. It bugs me that the factory production is the only high-earning option and raw crops sell for a pittance.

Maybe I'm wierd, but I'm finding I like this content more now than when I was starting out. It gives me a reason to log into the game periodically and check the status of my things. Being at level 9 kind of gives you the freedom to gain your exp a bit more passively since you should be getting your expansions and building upgrades for their exp first before getting to 10. I mean, "like" is a strong word, but it's a nice little afk spot to get things accomplished. I am pretty goal oriented; I like to see visual progression, and I have those shorts on my mind next. Making a lot more island currency now too.

Other than what others have said about the island not feeling like "their island", I just think something like a lopporit would feel better. Mostly as their lore would fit perfectly in a place like this, and they'd probably jump at the chance to do this favor for the WoL, and their moodiness and personality would work as compared to the mammets. The mammets give off this sort of industrial feel, on something that is supposed to be your little "hideaway"; it makes it feel like your island is a factory island, which it kind of is.

It's not supposed to be slaves at all. You're supposed to be organising a team of settlers.

All of it could be slightly rewritten to be even less "boss and workers". If it was the Loporrits, they'd be asking for your guidance and advice about what sorts of things people would like them to produce. Paying them for their work makes more sense than paying robots, too.

What an odd, out of place comment.

I'm more than a little confused by this comment, especially since it isn't historically accurate. Putting aside the simple fact that slavery was by no means something solely limited to the Western world...slavery still actively exists in many countries in the present day in areas that are outside of the Western sphere of influence.

Damm so much hate against robots here, poor things. You guys should change your mind, they will be our future sooner or later. i prefer 10 times a nice AI or a human who is always just complaining and badmouthing everthing. Also you can put these guys in standby if you had enough for the moment, unlike real persons.

I feel like its once again a case of "something is missing", and i think a lot of SE's side concepts can be explained like that.

It was very fun to progress, but this feelings ends somewhere around lv 7 to 8 at which point gathering is kind of not worth it for exp and the entire thing becomes a daily, so you go there after reset, obtain your rare items from expeditions ... collect farm items ... upgrade your building and then ... wait.

Why does it feel like we have this huge island and nothing to do with it, why cant i renovate the beach? Why cant i establish a orchard? Why cant i build a quarry? Why cant i build a fish farm? Why cant i build MORE.

We have 2 buildings we can upgrade twice, its such a waste. Why cant we build RP/Decoration bits? Campfire? Stage? Beach area like in costa? This was the perfect chance to add things. The "Landmark" buildings are a nice idea but they fall short of what could be possible.

Every Island will look the same ... minor details ... of wow 3 workshops and 2 granary? 4 Landmarks of which you likely have 1 each? crazy. They could've moved the industrial buildings a bit further out and added "plots" around the area to pick from 1 out of like x buildings that may not give any direct bonus but make it YOUR island, maybe a jumping Puzzle of sorts as well.

Idk man, its just shallow, ill do it to get my mounts but i really wish there was more here. I REALLY enjoyed the progression at lv 1-5

I'm hoping this is preliminary before they add more stuff to the mix, perhaps more landmarks, more interesting things to put in. Example, imagine them adding a craftshop that can craft you older endgame stuff, always 2 patches behind. Like one that could (currently) craft you Grade 9 Master Recipe stuff, assuming you've made it once before. Not in large quantities, but you can set it up to make say, up to 20 of a HQ mat a day, 5 food items a day (giving you 15 of it), 1 crafted piece of gear a day, etc. Or a lounge area extension of the Comfy Cabin that has a bed you can log out from, a minigame box, and a few minigames from the Gold Saucer (you can only have 2 of them). You know, things that really make you think on what you want to keep or replace. You can add some comforts at the cost of being able to get mats/seafarer's due to replacing granaries/workshops.
