6.2 MSQ Story Review

Male healers aren't exactly all that revolutionary. Hope in FFXIII, Anders in Dragon Age, etc. I don't consider that something so unique to as be worthy of praise based off that alone. I dislike how the story handled Alphinaud and the unceremonious way in which he upgraded to a Sage. Seeing him be given his AF set by his mom wasn't compelling. It only solidified the image of him as a spoiled noble kid.

In any case no one here stands to lose from adding some masculine men to the cast that are a step above the guys we've already gone on adventures with. If I had to tolerate the likes of Alphinaud and G'raha Tia then I'm sure that those who are opposed to such men joining the cast will just have to exercise the same patience that I had to.

Minwu is probably the best male healer the series ever got. Not many pure healers of his archetype.

I'm not invalidating your opinion, what'd you mean? ;3 I just consider yours less relevant than mine, as you no doubt do the same to me. It's kinda what makes them opinions, no?

Honestly, the FemRa part was mostly a (lame) joke. Regardless, unlike certain other FemRas I don't go around speaking of my overwhelming masculinity and what constitutes it as such. Frankly, I admittedly don't like FemRas for the most part. We're pretty terrible, and deserve most if not all of our criticisms.... ;3

Just do your best to ignore it and focus on the parts of the game that yet make you happy, friend. Like many things 6.0 and beyond, it doesn't make nearly as much sense as the devs insist it does.

Yeah they pulled out of nowhere as a macguffin that will make sense at a later date. The story feels more like Kingdom Hearts right now.

I mean, if you're not really paying attention, being confused kinda makes sense...basically, "light" and "darkness" in FFXIV are essentially just other elements such as Fire, Wind, Earth, Water. Hydaelyn is aspected toward light, but she's not the "source" of all light in the universe. The "light" in her crystal doesn't rely on her existence in order to retain its power. Once the crystal gets imbued with light, it has that light no matter what. The crystal reacted with the "darkness" in Zero and dissipated it.

To be fair, ever since they changed it WE get our Artifact Gear "handed to us" as well. Not saying that this is a good thing, but still....

Ah, I remember the days when you had to EARN the best gear for your class in an MMO. What halcyon days they were, full of kicking, and screaming and Barrens chatting. Still better than this method, though I fully entice anyone with misgivings to come forward. I accept all comers. ;3

You're not wrong though. In most games power upgrades whether for mmorpg characters or fixed protagonists in single-player games come after some kind of growth/struggle. Them being handed to the character so effortlessly like in Alphinaud's case is certainly unique, but not in a way that is in the game's best interest.
