Have you ever once experienced having 2 or 3 clowns in class and getting the whole class punished for their jokes?

It's the internet, "community" wouldn't kill dataminers as they can hide their personal information.
Let's also think of a group of people who hates FF XIV. What they could do is datamine, spread the datamine and punish the community for something they never did.

They do this in WoW with content they want to keep a surprise until the official reveal. For example on the test servers, big story moments, and assets that spoil said moments, will often be encrypted. They recently did this with the latest raid (Sepulcher of the First Ones) where the final 3 bosses were encrypted and kept secret (I.e. no public testing) until the day those bosses were officially made available, thereby preserving the mystery.

The only immediate solution to this is for Square Enix to distribute a patch containing the savage content at the last possible moment. That would always require a maintenance for the release of a new savage tier and wouldn't eliminate the datamining window entirely. However, if they actually invested some money into improving technical solutions, there would be another approach they could take. For example, Blizzard ship certain key content in the game files encrypted and then distribute the encryption keys via their launcher when it's meant to become available in game.

Beyond that, Square Enix and their legal team need to start doing the dirty work if they want datamining and leaks to have a lesser impact on the game. That ultimately means taking legal action against the people involved in doing the mining itself and distributing the content. For example, using DMCA takedowns on any streamer that openly covers a leak BEFORE the content is available in game or using DMCA takedowns to have the tweets removed (in this recent savage datamine, some images of the new savage animations were shared on Twitter). It's one area where SE need to take ownership and slam down the hammer regardless of who it hits.

I don't see how keeping datamines and leaks in check is "full Nintendo". Going "full Nintendo" would require Square Enix to start mass DMCAing people that upload the soundtrack or stream the game even within the existing boundaries of the terms of service. In fact, a lot of YouTube channels that upload existing soundtrack as lyric videos have that content removed if it's featuring music from the latest patch (I can't recall how many versions of Flow lyric videos got removed before they officially made the EW soundtrack available for purchase).

Square Enix have already asked people, as recently as Dragonsong's Reprise, to not share datamined content and yet portions of the player base have repeatedly done it since then. The infamous billboard used datamined outfits from the summer event that just happened in game and in the last day we've seen tweets containing images of upcoming savage mechanics. The player base has to be treated equally by Square Enix and it's pretty clear that despite them wanting to be fair, people are willing to abuse that fairness.

This has been done every tier, but it's typically kept private. The only difference is that it's out in the open now.

Most of what is being mined is not that useful, and won't be that impactful in the WF race aside from giving groups stuff to speculate on. If anything, it makes it a little more accessible since it's public instead of restricted to WF teams private discords.

What is even the point of data mining? Why are people so obsessed with knowing what is coming? If I ran a game and I knew people were datamining it, I'd constantly put false things in the patches to mess with people. I'd also not use the actual content that was data mined.

You found out the Samurai job was coming before it was hinted at or announced by datamining it? Now it will never come out.
Some people just want to know for the sake of knowing. Even "locking" the data won't help, it'll still get datamined. A mobile game I was playing had the data heavily encrypted, and a few dataminers still cracked it within a week. NEVER underestimate the playerbase.

This is on Square Enix for being dumb enough to ship the files alongside the patch content.
People will datamine whatever and whenever they can in every single video game. It's up to them to accept that as a fact and figure out a deployment process that eliminates the problem.
