6.2 MSQ Story Review

As for saving the void, I hope we won't be able to do that. The First is one thing, but 13th has been flooded for centuries, to easily reverse its situation doesn't feel appropriate. Let the heroes fail this time pls

I don't think we're going to reverse it within this MSQ arc, but I do think the story might angle itself so an offshoot can connect up with the Crystarium side story arcs – the role quests and Eden – which on their end are already contemplating the viability of restoring the Thirteenth, and have hints that the protagonists might meet up and work together, and started off a "Void Quests" arc that doesn't seem complete yet, and now have updated dialogue post-6.2.

Everything points to sidequest amalgamation and I'm looking forward to it.

And even then, it's probably going to be like Eden, with them restoring a small patch that will spread over time.

Have to agree with ppl who say they like Shadowbringers more than Endwalker. To me Endwalker was cool at the start, but absolutely mediocre by the end of it. Still don’t like Meteion(who basically came out of nowhere) as the main antagonist of the whole Hyd/Zod ark.
The same feelings I have for the post-EW MSQ as well. I am just do not intrigued anymore. I haven’t played other FFs beside FFXV, so I know nothing about the new antagonist and right know I see him as completely uninteresting, just the same feeling I had for Zenos in Stormblood. Zero looks cool and edgy and etc, but I can’t get rid of the though that I’ve seen that all “cool and edgy” attitude many times before.
At the very particular moment I prefer Panda storyline over post-MSQ. Hope this will change with next patches.

Story pacing in Shadowbringers was very good and had buildup. Endwalker was all over the place and just felt rushed like the Zodiark story had to meet some kind of deadline.

And the Final Days being restricted to just 2 zones is a load of bullshit.

Is there really an issue with Alphi getting new clothes from his Mom? It is weird to suggest this makes FFXIV a Power Fantasy, just because Alphi was handed new clothes instead of going through some struggle to obtain them.

Maybe thats not the Point Mr Aveyond is trying to make, but the fact they put it in the same sentence as "allowing the protagonist faction to struggle and grow" is very weird.

Basically plot armor galore: Almost as soon as we arrive we casually find ex-Zenos avatar, that casually reacts to the Crystal On Light that we just got for "reasons" casually transformating into waifu bait due to being casually half human,that casually still completely retain her mind unlike many voidsents making her a very good source of information, that casually not only is the only remaining Memoria user but also 300% more honorable and compassive than any other voidsent up to date. Dont forget the Azem crystal mcguffing "just in case we need it"

Even suspension of belief has its limits. We are being railroaded so hard with the entire world setting bending to the plot that is almost laughable on this patch

6.2's MSQ plot in a nutshell, really. I keep saying it, and I'm going to keep saying it. Barreling through the Arch-Fiends in this way will prove to be a considerable narrative blunder, in the end.

It's inherently contradictory in your intent to do so, or perhaps illuminating what you actually intend? Either way, one thing in particular I've noticed about the likes of you and Striker is that for as much as you constantly demand to have people state what is and isn't their opinion alone you seem to possess the same inherent flaw you find in so many others. Until you sort that out, it may be wise to cease pointing it out in others.

Funny that you mention that of all things, however since the mods on this forum DO frequently take the side of those who defend Endwalker's plot and my posts have been removed in the past for posting quite literally the same words another poster who praised the narrative instead of condemning it was permitted to remain.

Also, you are lacking in Language Arts rhetoric yourself if you believe this for it too is inaccurate. The fact of the matter is, many people do indeed take issue with various dilemmas in which 6.0 and beyond were handled and the number continues to grow every day as shown by the uptick in posts I've seen here and on social media decrying Endwalker's failings. None of those you accuse of foul play are under any obligation to reveal every particular person they debate with just because a select few onerous folk make unsavvy demands, and any who would dismiss the points they would make on that basis alone show their full hand so to speak on lack of knowledge on how debates work.

Hmm. Yeah, you're right it is a valid question and I'd take it seriously if it weren't for the manner in which it was phrased and what it followed.

"The point Aveyond was trying to make" is that it falls flat when the Scions' suffering and despair is presented as representative of how virtuous the Sundered are as a whole, over a mountain of corpses who undoubtedly suffered more and failed Venat's rigorous test. It fails when the Scions are far more privileged and get many things (but not all, of course) handed to them in as convenient a cosmic manner as humanly possible. It makes for a rather unimpressive moral narrative, overall. 6.2's MSQ "anime fller plot" as some other user on this thread called it proves this. The Voidsent we've seen so far bear no resemblance at all to the vicious, conniving demons we've confronted in the past and it shows. They are now either cowardly wimps who refuse to unsheath their claws and fangs or super-simpy morons who drool over their latest slave driver. As a RPer heavily invested in the possible heirarchy and culture of the 13th, this disappoints me immeasurably.

Anywhoozies~, tangent over. As ever, and while I don't speak for Aveyond of course I reckon their main gripe with the story in 6.0 and beyond is that it lacks consistency and fails to mesh with what we'd gotten from the narrative previously. This concern is not hilarious, nay frankly it's rather understandable and I share it.
