We did.I'd prefer to get a separate trial series questline instead of whatever that Tataru questline is supposed to be.
Abyssos.
The story is ok. After years of build up, the main story after 6.0 feel small or not as exciting. Nothing that grabs my attention thinking what’s going to happen next. When you come from time travel, space travel and start over right away its a bit of a let down.
I dislike the elephant people and Radz-at-Han. I’m not a fan of that whole culture they have going.
The arch fiends really annoy me when they speak. So proud in their own strength yet they will all die. I dislike their personality. Can there be a wise villain or monster who doesn’t talk smack and counts on his fellow arch fiends?
The location for the 13th is nice to explore and it was cool seeing the monster talk to us. So far I’m not looking forward to the story until something grabs my attention.
They forgot rule 30 of being an evil overlord:Can there be a wise villain or monster who doesn’t talk smack and counts on his fellow arch fiends?
30. I will maintain a realistic assessment of my strengths and weaknesses. Even though this takes some of the fun out of the job, at least I will never utter the line "No, this cannot be! I AM INVINCIBLE!!!" (After that, death is usually instantaneous.)![]()
Azem's power apparently is the ability to summon real people to their aid. It just means that we've moved on from our party of adventuring friends to be on a convenient fishing trip nearby, and now canonically pull them the edge of the universe to help us.Agree on the azem crystal comment too- I hate how the very msq has become super solo now, we dont even team up with other real adventurers anymore really we just summon some with our magical crystal- it's unimaginitive and the plots reaching a point where all the main characters feel unkillable and this just adds to it further.
Personally I'm not keen on it, but in the opposite direction, because it never really made sense that we were bringing random people into the battle and then never seeing them again. It was easier to ignore them and run on the assumption that the WoL is really just fighting solo, but that's slightly harder now that they're being summoned on-screen.
The only times we've canonically had "phantom allies" has been the Exarch's summoning them for the Dying Gasp, and Themis's creations for us in Pandæmonium. (And I suppose also in Omega.)
Pandæmonium is a raid questline, not trials. We've had the two things as distinct sidequest chains up until now: Hard Primals/Hildibrand vs Coil, Triad vs Alexander, Four Lords vs Omega, Werlyt vs Eden.
That said, I'm fine with the trials being in the MSQ if that's what serves the story best. Better than them having to come up with an additional story just for the sake of having it, rather than because they want to tell it.
I liked being able to talk to the Voidsent in Zero's domain. Wish there was more. Would also be cool if there were different layers of the Void to explore rather than it being one homogenous, samey place.
The idea of Archfiends warring against each other was cool, but sadly underutilized. Seems like it's just going to be our heroes vs Golbez. Could be cool if there was something like One Piece where you have impromptu alliances. Maybe our heroes could have work with (or lured) an Archfiend and their demon army against Golbez.
I like that Zero is a self-interested actor rather than just nodding along with the hero hivemind. Maybe Golbez promises Zero lots of power so she betrays the party for real and joins him and becomes an antagonist for a while. Or she eats Azdaja and enrages Vytra. She has already been established as being pretty powerful so she would be a credible threat.
I can't say I'm terribly intrigued by the post-patch storyline so far, at least compared to the post-MSQ bits of the other expansions. The cliffhangers have been too vague to really get me excited for what's coming next and it seems like they're opting to use the Endwalker zones mostly for the various side stories rather then the MSQ this go-around, though I feel like that's partly a consequence of how disjointed they are compared to the prior expansions.
I'm mostly wondering what this "great change" coming to the world hinted at in the Rising quests is going to be.
We do know the Void storyline will be wound up prior to 7.0, Yoshi said as much. No doubt we will know more in time.I'm mostly wondering what this "great change" coming to the world hinted at in the Rising quests is going to be.
It's okay. But so far we have slapped two of the archfiends like they're nothing and they died, no second battle etc they simply got crystalized. I hope for more plot twists because WoL is now the Final Fantasy equivalent of Captain Tsubasa where they can never lose.
Vrtra : "My sister.... a Dragon that used to protect me, daughter of Midgardsormr, she never returned from the Dark Portal" (sorry, wrong game) I mean from "the Void".
WoL : I went there and slapped two archfiends lol ur sister is weak"
I think SE view losing as us wiping. We obviously aren't going to let that happen because we're gamers so our character will always win in the story except when they do something like they did with Zenos in Stormblood.
In other news, there is no technical debt from 1.0.
"We don't have ... a technological issue that was carried over from 1.0, because ARR was meant to kind of discard what we had from 1.0 and rebuild it from the engine."
