Why You Love Island Sanctuary - Anti-Anxiety Joy

Let's hear positive voices. I think the negative voices tend to drown out the positive ones.

I've been playing since beta. I've done Savage, EX, Unreal, POTD, HoH, crafted, mained 5 jobs, played the world over. Anti-IS folk will call lovers of the game nothing more than filthy casuals, but we're not.

Island Sanctuary calms me down so much.

I've never felt so calm and relaxed and had so much fun just talking with my FC mates while I slowly build up resources and take in how beautiful the scenery is without any aggro.

It's been so wonderful to have spent this last week playing it and I just feel so refocused and energized when I leave the game. I'm so thrilled that this exists.

There are A LOT of people that agree with you and love island sanctuary. This is not a great place to voice that opinion sadly. This is a forum that people congregate to complain about literally every single aspect of the game. You would be much better received on reddit and the like where people celebrate the game.

Enjoying my time with it as well. At first I went hard on it for 2 days and then I realized.....I didn't have to. There's just no direct reason. There are no time limits, and while sure you unlock more stuff to do at later levels, I don't really feel the direct need to rush that.

I do like being at least somewhat efficient, but I've since calmed down a bit and just enjoyed it for what it is. Once I get a new pasture, I'm starting up a chocobo ranch.

I don't find a map full of clickable objects and timers relaxing though. Like others have said I just walk outside if I want to relax out in nature or visit one of the prettier zones in this game like Il Mheg and take screenshots.

yea i just walk outside and take in the polluted air of a city and nearly get hit by cars that drive on the bike path to relax.

I'm really enjoying Island Sanctuary so far and am spending an inordinate amount of time on it. Looking forward to how it further develops and gets updated!

A bit of pedantry here but in most nations freedom of speech is protection from governmental censorship. This is a corporate owned and regulated forum and as such there is no freedom of speech whatsoever beyond what SE allows and enforces. SE can and does censor (moderate) the content as in some cases they have a legal responsibility to do so. In the US they are protected under Title 47 section 230 of US Communications Decency Act but in other nations there may not be such legislation and as such are potentially liable for all our sh!tposting.

I'm still happier with housing as an activity.

Island Sanctuary will be my vacation spot. The economic mini-game looks like it could be fun once I've finished maxing out the sanctuary but I'm not a fan of spending time with irritable and erratic mammets.

I also find it relaxing. I've always loved games like the Harvest Moon series. Combining that with FFXIV is something I really love. I look forward to seeing my island every day to gather from my animals and plants. And looking for rare animals is fun, and even more fun when you manage to catch one.

I basically grew up with Harvest Moon. I really like the island and hope it gets expanded upon. Or make a new island be in a volcano or something. haha

I really liked it as a surprise logic puzzle! It's also just a nice space to exist in.
Another thing I really appreciated was how much personality the Felicitous Furball got to have in the introductory portions.
The dialogue for all the mammets was nice and sparkly - a whole lot less perfunctory than I expected.

EDIT: Oh, and the music is very nice! That goes for this whole patch, I guess?

Its cute and I love it tbh. IN FACT. I wish I could move my house to it. If I could move my house to it, I'd give up my plot immediately. Forget my neighborhood-maybe instanced housing criers are onto something. I want my house on my island with a summoning bell and let me have up to 50 friends over and I would never leave it. Oh you would just NEVER see me outside of doing story-thats probably why they'll never do all that actually lmao. But I am loving it. It is just so cute and cozy and good to mindlessly run around while watching things I've wanted to watch for a long while now!
