I like the armor. It's something different.
The Tank set is probably good for identifying where the Tank is in a fight too.

For me, it's not an issue of immersion, it's an issue of the spinning glow specifically.
I'm yet to actually have anyone in my party using it, but when I tried it on at the vendor it actually made me feel a bit nauseous just staring at it for a few seconds.
Again, maybe that's an exposure thing, maybe it's not so bad on other people, but I'm yet to find out and at this point I'm a bit wary of it.

You got me on that armor. To be fair no one wears that armor and it’s extremely rare to see someone wear it. Prob because the actual armor is ugly and old. nonetheless, I find that armor less annoying because it is not a giant glowing ring on the back with red or purple hue color. It is a white color that is minimized on the armor set. To be really frank. I don’t have a problem with animations in the armor. It is just the ring. The augmented cashmere healer robe is easily more annoying than the ring in my opinion. The glowing ring knows what it wants to be, the vague uninspired glow on the ARR pieces is just clutter. But this is what this boils down to: personal taste. Everyone claiming that this is some grand hill the identity of the game gets decided upon is looking for moral justification in a vain attempt to convince others that their taste is the correct one.
Now everyone will die in 7 days because they all saw the Rings

This is why we can't have nice things (armor)Can we get a way to turn off the animations? While I have no issues with some of the sets, the giant rings are really obnoxious to look at. At first I thought it was cool, until everyone starting to have the animation on their back. Now it is every where and I am forced to see it on my screen, just like the dark knight ability back in heavensward, it’s an eye sore.
Side opinion:
I would have been happier if the animation sets were reserved for savage raiders. There would have been less around to look at and in the end would have probably gotten more people into the savage community.
Veteran healers don't care if we need to heal, but right now we don't. We want interesting things to do during the downtime other than a 30s dot and a single filler spell that hasn't changed from lvl 4 to lvl 90.
Dead DPS do no DPS. Raised DPS do 25/50% lower DPS. Do the mechanics and don't stand in bad stuff.
Other games expect basic competence, FFXIV is pleasantly surprised by it. Other games have toxic elitism. FFXIV has toxic casualism.[/LIST]
I would just like a toggle for personal effects on/off and player effects on/off. That way only mine will be visible and I can turn it off when I want, and other people can turn mine off while I can still enjoy my own.
It wasn't as bad for the ARR/PVP armor with a similar, perpetual motion effect but the ring is very big and I wonder how it looks in cutscenes come to think of it. Will it obscure characters standing behind you?
I've had more people follow me, especially in P7, since I got the armour, but none of them follow quite far enough to dodge mechanics. I've even had a few healers follow me when I'm moving away with a tank buster just for them to go splat.
In cutscenes is does somewhat block what's on the other side of it, and change the hue of what you are looking at due to the flame ring "radiating", but it doesn't completely block.I would just like a toggle for personal effects on/off and player effects on/off. if you don't like it then glamour something else over it, there's plenty of different looking gear in this game.
