Unveiling the maps yourself is another "Thing" to do in the game, some people like to have alot of things to do.

We don't always want the game to hold our hands and show us where/when/how to do things. Of course it's not how everyone wants to play there is the side that wants to spend as little time as possible as well doing things.

"You get the Flask" "You cannot go north" lol

I just think a game should have more meat and less potatoes is all, and yeah I DO think a game developer should think about the 5 seconds I am gonna have to spend to correct his dumb idea.

But you are right, if more ppl get some kinda kick from the "revealed map" feature no worries man, I'll just download the map and drop em in my .dat files, like everyone else who don't want to deal with it.

Honestly I really had no idea so many ppl were so passionate about this simple feature.
I wasn't trying to be rude... I'm sorry...
honestly though... you seem a lot more passionate about NOT HAVING IT than any of us feel about adding it in...
But my point is valid.. games are tedious... futile... in most cases silly...
you really can't remove that from the equation....
Especially when the silliness amuses a lot of us...
Its like an in game monster bestiary....
Or even having to attune to the atherytes
Would you prefer being able to teleport to any of them... even ones you've never been to?

And honestly... I feel a sense of adventure when the map isn't there....
You learn the area by looking at the landscape and the landmarks
You have to admit... thats kind of cool

Yeah I would rather be able to teleport to any anywhere...to me that's not "the game" .

You know what I am getting at?
Sounds like personal preference... I get that
Will it really bother you if the have it fill as you go?

What if buying the Map wasn't very expensive?

AS I said , I agree with your point that games are silly, and futile......I don't agree they should be tedious....

I get what you mean about having things to do, and what not it makes sense.

In response to your query, YES I would love to not have to hike everywhere first in order to telport. Sure I may go back and hike it on my free time to explore, but nah FORCING me to do it is not fun for me. I need to get out there to meet my freinds who have already explored there while I was working so I can do the new dungeon with them, and not make them wait for me to catch up.

I want to have the ability to be considerate of their time, and not force them, to backtrack or wait on my account.

I am sure you have reason for it to be otherwise , and it's most likley a good one, but I hope you can see where I am coming from.

I'd be fine if you could walk into the Advy Guild and be like "Hey here;s 10 gil for common maps and 10,000 gil for the hard elite dungeon map etc."

I can see your point too.... Hopefully this will be their compromise... buy it (But not for ridiculous amounts) or fill it

I like map markers for the quests, but i also like the map filling in as you explore. If that part of the map has not been filled in, it could still show a quest marker but just on a blank map.

I'm not going to go download a map. I want to explore and enjoy the game, not skip to the end. That seems to be a reoccurring theme with some of the people who play this game.

See I guess this is where I am taking my passionate issue.

I am not lazy or wanna skip any content, In fact take a look at my Lodestone history etc....watch my video series....I am perfectly happy to donate a large portion of my time to this lifestyle.

So please, don't lump everyone that likes convenience into a "they want everything on a silver platter" category.

There are real reasons why a maps are usually already ....you know...maps, as we already discussed, I hope you can see my points on there. As I see yours.

Also there are many reasons why players ask for other conveniences. Like my example of my friends waiting on me because I had to work.

Will I go back and explore the new area...OF COURSE, I love this kinda thing. But it's all about the delivery. I just don't believe a game should be a challenge for a challenges sake. I see no reason why everything has to be a goal.

I earnestly believe the world should be beautiful enough to make you wish to explore every corner of it for yourself, regardless if your map is filled or not. I just want the game to be honest, and true.

I want the players to play and ENJOY IT......not play out of a need to conquer it.

I feel it creates happier, healthier players, with more longevity, patience with each other, and tolerance of their opinion and play styles. Whereas; the conquering mentality tends to a create a "means justifies the ends", elitist snob culture. All for the sake and in the name of "whatever it takes to win!"

    Stop. Rest, Enjoy.

Why not a compromise then? Let maps start out with the basic area revealed but let the outlying areas, dungeons, forts be unrevealed.

If someone is desperate enough to not want to actually walk somewhere before being in a rush to be there...well I'm not sure perhaps they need to stop playing a hour before they need to work.
