I don't understand why there are so many people who are okay with being inconvenienced to this extent when trying to enjoy a game. Do you feel like it's a cardinal sin to have criticism about this game or something? I just want it to be better and take into consideration that time-gating content is not enjoyable at all. Is that really so bad? Do you think that's toxic or something?
I didn't expect this to be like Animal Crossing but I expected it to at least respect a player's efforts in trying to enjoy it. I don't think I should be ashamed or excluded because I wanted this to be better than what we got.

Sorry your expectations were too high.
It's fair to criticize but criticizing time gating when it's been a thing in this game for years and is meant to try to keep an even playing field between elitists and casuals is a choice.
Also the entire online gaming industry would have to have a face lift before time gating isn't a thing anymore.

I was not hyped for this to start with. Go in with low expectations either get pleasantly surprised or proven right.
I mean that's what I thought, but I wasn't entirely sure. I'm not really sure anyone could be absolutely sure until it was fully released.I know a lot of people don't watch PLLs, but this was something Yoshida covered many times—it's removed from existing systems so it can exist on its own terms without outside influence.
It's meant to be a personal thing for you to pursue that doesn't influence or affect the game outside of it in any way.
Also the shop with the blue cowries exists and that technically influences the outside game a little bit.
I don't get why you're using casuals as a defense of time gates. If anything, the fact that this game is catered to casuals should mean time gates are more harmful. Wouldn't it be better if it was more flexible and less time gated so that casuals could spend time playing when they wanted? Imagine spending the whole week bogged down by work/school work + the rest of life and you just want to spend the weekend relaxing and building up your IS. Then you hit a couple of time gates and you can't do anything super meaningful with it for most of that free time.Crop growth is slow period. Even some housing crops take a week to grow depending on what it is. Would probably suggest just getting used to that.
As far as the time gating, why are we shocked? Time gating exists in many places in this game and makes sense that they'd apply it to IS as well.
I really wish some would realize that this game is catered to casuals (those who have jobs, real life responsibilities, families, those who can't no life everything). I'm someone who can no life and know better than to complain about things being time gated lol. I just accept the pacing and pick up other activities in game/another game to hold myself over while waiting.

As i said in a different thread, try out one of these mobile games that play themselves for you. Sounds like the better choice for you if an hour of playing new content is too much for you.I've hit rank 8 as of this morning, and I've got a few things I want to say about this new piece of content. Aside from the fact that It should be more connected to the actual game and not so isolated as a piece of content, I can't believe how slow the progression is.
I have gathered enough to reach high end material gathering and I feel like time-gating rewards and being capped at 10 exp per gathering node is something that was decided upon without consideration for the player's time. It actually feels like the game doesn't respect my time or enjoyment. If I wanted to bite down on a burger but a restaurant didn't let me finish the other half I would be very upset. This is essentially what is happening.
I just want to enjoy this game, but the game doesn't want to let me by time-gating this much. I know I am not alone as I have seen very many posts and comments on how badly designed this content is. What changes would you like to see done to improve the experience?
Personally, I think it should take nowhere near a full day for the workshop to finish, and I don't appreciate crops taking so long, either. The last thing I would like is a bigger island. It really honestly doesn't feel as big as it was advertised at all. Only 2 underwater zones and such a limited amount of animals to raise.
Island Sanctuary is content that should keep us busy and invested for a while, not giving us everything at day one like you seem to want it.
So would you have enjoyed it better if they had no time-gates and you would be bascially done with it by now? Would you still find enjoyment in this content if you were max level with everything built? Or would it become way more boring quite fast since you dont have goals to work towards?I don't understand why there are so many people who are okay with being inconvenienced to this extent when trying to enjoy a game. This is content meant to last for quite some time. Its not meant to be rushed. If you are time-gated then simply do something else in the game or collect materials for future use.
There actually fast compared to normal gardening only 48 hours. 120 exp and 5 crops per harvestCrop growth is slow period. Even some housing crops take a week to grow depending on what it is. Would probably suggest just getting used to that.

It's meant to be slow and inefficient.
There's no rush you can do it in 3 years like in 1 day.
The island is a dessert that last over a long period of time without being grindy. If you eat the whole dessert, you can't complain it's too big for your mouth or that there is no dessert anymore.
The best way to enjoy this content is the slow way as craft and deliveries will grant you more experience than farming materials.
