De-ranking in Crystal Conflict is a horrible idea

I honestly can't believe that people would rather delude themselves into thinking it's all luck and that everyone else who didn't struggle as hard as they did was cheating.

I mean clearly, if it was all luck and now that the wintrading has become harder, things will change this season right ? Because everyone will start out in Bronze, you couldn't possibly have the same crowd in the top 100 again right ?

But even if the exact same people get up to Crystal without too much trouble, you'll still think they're cheating. Because it's easier to tell yourself a story than admit the truth. The truth being that you're bad.

You're being intentionally obtuse now. You know full well that isn't what was said. What was said was, to summarize: if someone has a run of bad luck, they're basically boned. They'll have to keep queueing and hoping they get grouped with people that don't have to think just to breathe.

Where, exactly, does this statement even touch on personal skill? Or cheating, for that matter. It is acknowledging one of the potential pitfalls associated with the ability to de-rank. All any of the changes mean is it'll take longer. The same people will end up at the top regardless, barring exceptionally bad luck with the game's non-existent matchmaking system. To say skill is the only factor in progressing is a gross mischaracterization of the entire system.

The above aside, you're pretty off base if you honestly think there's no cheating in this game's PvP. You don't see it as often in CC, at least. It's mostly in Frontlines, I guess because it'd be harder to notice in such a huge fustercluck of people. In Frontlines you'll semi-routinely see people outrunning mounts, getting underneath maps, locking their HP so they can't die, or even simply being permanently immune to all cc.

I'm also talking about our "90% of Crystal players are cheaters and that's why I can't get out of Bronze" JamieRose.

Of course there is some cheating in this game, but it's nowhere near as rampant as some of you make it out to be. People can spot the very vast majority of it and it gets massively reported. Because it's in everyone's best interests to report it when that happens. Because no one wants to play in an environment where you feel like the game is over before it even begins. SE recognized that and that's why all the changes to matchmaking in 6.2 are coming.

Even if I tell you to look at the damage numbers, the kills, the deaths, the healing done, compare yourself to your teammates, to your enemies, you still don't want to look at them to make your point. Because it would prove it wrong. The facts would contradict your stories.

Ah. Do carry on, then. If someone's throwing out "90% of Crystal players are cheaters," then odds are they've never actually been above Bronze. Most of the actual cheaters never get past the low ranks before getting caught because of how much easier it is to detect in a smaller pool of players.

So 90 % of the pvp playerbase plays worse than disabled people or how is one to understand your comment? The majority never saw crystal but rather got stuck in platinum as far as i am aware but belittling the achievements of others doesnt make you appear superior in any way. It just makes you look like a douche.

Funnily enough, according to achievements data, approximately 50% of players who participated in CC ended in Crystal by the end of Season 1. The achievements for other ranks are much less common.

I wouldn’t rely much on that data now that the rules have changed coming tomorrow.

This is what FFXIV collect has for titles. Because now you can only get the 1 title from Season 1 it should only count where you were. It's not exactly 50% but it is pretty high.
