    That is just the absolute bare bones of why SMN’s DOT’s were interesting, one there used to be way more than 2 and even when there was 2 tri disaster being a way to reset DOT’s so that in your 2 minute rotation you only hard refreshed them once was a good way to show progress in your rotation cycle (it’s why I love tsubame as an ability)

    This is to say nothing of old abilities SMN lost long ago like shadowflare (honestly who’s idea was it to remove shadowflare from both DOT mages) as well as a multitude of other old abilities

    SMN was one of the class that actually took useful advantage of its dots, you can’t rip them out then say “yeah but because PLD’s DOT’s are boring all dots are bad” when you actually removed them from a class that made good use of them

    If any jobs should have lost their dots it's gunbreaker, machinist and dark knight. Living shadow and automaton queen are incredibly boring and offer nothing, noone knows why gunbreaker has dots and salted/peppered earth isn't even ground placed anymore. I just don't understand why removing dots from the dot mage and making the bard dots entirely meaningless was the chosen course of action. It's been weird decision after weird decision, surely the goal can't be to alienate everyone who enjoys playing the jobs?

    I'm fairly certain at this point the only 3 jobs the developers actually care about at this point are BLM, RDM or PLD. They didn't give a shit when they did it to AST mains, SCH mains, MCH mains, DRK mains, SMN mains, MNK mains, SAM mains etc etc this list is almost every job in this game at this point. They know that most people will just sit there and go "oooh pretty colors I feel like a badass :O" so why bother caring about the people who actually enjoy a job it for its mechanical depth?

    I can’t remember where else I posted it but from another thread

    “The game has 4 job designers, BLM gets 2 to itself and yoshi breathing down their back constantly, PLD and the melee get 1 but he spends 90% of his time on PLD, the remaining jobs get one even though he mains RPR, an unpaid intern gets the healers”

    I think having the initial burst is necessary for job buff coordination.

    What I hate the most about SMN right now is how inflexible burst is - if for mechanics, buff window is delayed for practical reasons, then SMN damage plummets.

    Having SOME way to delay BIG summon phase while doing something apart from Ruin 3 and 4 would be great.

    Having all classes with the same buff time (every 2 minutes) and actually the same burst time (every minute), just postpone the buff time to the next minute if the delay is too high. For example for p2s just postpone the buff to 5 minutes instead of 4 (so have the buffs on phoenix and not on bahamut)
