    I play on a ridiculously laggy laptop. This client is killing me with lag, even though its brand new. I use a controller ALWAYS. You would think this problem would be horrid for me.
    I do not get the same problem as these people and I don't know why.
    when my character stops moving, I know when hes at rest
    Occasionally I get a message, but I've checked and thats only when I start trying to cast a spell while moving.
    You do have to move as a mage in a lot of endgame content. The range of mages is only so far as well. If we had infinite range then we could just stand around anywhere on the map and do our thing, but that is not the case. Honestly, I would not be posting in this thread if I didn't think the mechanic was flawed. It's not worth my time to do so otherwise. However, it is flawed and thus I think it should be adjusted or removed until the server can support it AND/OR they actually implement the gameplay that it was added for, aka PVP.

    In end game, you probably ought to know where to stand as a mage. Knowing your safe zones is key to being a backline job. I know they exist, they do on any battlefield. Granted sometimes you will have to move to avoid an attack. During this time, get in position and ready your action bar. You may have to wait a second or two to cast but your not going to die in that time.

    If your that worried about it, you should know that fixes like this are comming with the 2.0 client.
    They just couldn't pull this off successfully.

    The 2.0 Magical Sunshine and Rainbows Parade of Awesome (TM) is all good and well, but doesn't mean much for those of us who want to play the game now. If the current server structure can't handle changes like this, they shouldn't be pushed live until 2.0 is ready.

    Actually no they should be. All your going to be missing is the huge latency. You should already be getting a feel for the game now instead of making complaints when 2.0 comes. This is a product and you are basicly testing it for a re-release.

    I don't understand why people want to counter others that feel there are problems with the current system when there ARE. Apparently the flaws several players have observed fall on deaf ears... or blind eyes? Either way, I'm not a stupid mage. I complete end game content despite the flaws and I certainly do not need any tips. Nonetheless, I still believe there are issues with the current spellcasting system(s) regardless of how many people seem to be in love with it (or just plain ignorant to the issues at hand.) And at least people on this topic that notice the issues are at least "complaining" about real issues and not just making some problem out of nothing like the majority of these forums. This is an issue. The /facetarget command was literally implemented BECAUSE the spellcasting changes were flawed (due to coding, server, what have you, it doesn't matter.) Enough said.

    This issue will be fixed as soon as they make /facetarget programmable on a controller (which I am guessing will be in either 1.21a or 1.22.)

    To those of you (keyboard) players that keep insisting it is fine the way it is...you need to keep in mind that for 2.0 they are designing 2 seperate UI's for keyboard and controller. PS3 is (hopefully) going to be a big market and they are all going to be Controller users so ease of use is a high priority.

    They will continue to tweak the Controller UI (as well as keyboard) so please just stop the arguing....it's really pointless.

    p.s. They also might trash the whole /facetarget and switch to "casting will halt movement". I don't really know but I have a feeling that they already ruled that out for whatever reason.

    I would have quoted you had I been specifically targeting you with this statement, but I was basically addressing everyone in this thread. I mentioned issues players are having multiple times in my previous posts, so please read those, then respond back to this post with the same thing you and others have been reciting as well, and it'll continue the infinite loop of logic and broken logic on both sides. I'm really sad my 1000th post is going to be this one =( but I felt it necessary to at least let you know I was not directing my words towards you specifically. I'm tired of going in circles in this thread where no one cares to acknowledge issues players are having as real issues. Good night.
