Using the same logic, everyone I've shown Aveyond's posts to has disagreed with him. That means he is incorrect and no one agrees with him at all.

You're not using the same logic at all and you're being seriously dishonest here. I've never claimed that everyone agreed with that sentiment, just that it existed and that I've seen it elsewhere independantly from this forums. Which is also nothing more than what aveyond's post claimed (they said that some people agreed with them. Never said many. And certainly not "all").

I thought you and the other members of the annoyingly pedantic crew were champions of facts and exact words? How is it that even when people use objectively correct terms you're still having a fit over it?

The point is people like aveyond love to constantly claim that this mythical multitude of people out there exists, and therefore his opinion has this enormous backing and must be considered "right" and a high priority. In reality, most of the positions he takes are held by only a minuscule minority of the playerbase, so it makes no sense to expect the dev team to bend over backwards to satisfy his personal desires. (Nevermind that when all someone ever does is complain about everything, you realize they'll never be satisfied and thus aren't worth the effort.)

A mix of two things:

1.) Numerous actual polls on various social media and by SE garnering immensely more votes than the people we see on these forums. It was hilarious watching the absolute "shock" of certain people a few weeks ago on here when it was revealed the Scions are actually very popular. The one from last week showing EW is the 2nd most popular expansion is up there, too. Or the one from a while back showing how much of a fanbase Minifilia has.

2.) Practically every other site on the internet. Check around YT and look up videos on practically anything about EW - the story, the soundtrack, etc.. Here, you'll see the same dozen or so names popping up over and over again complaining. There, you'll see hundreds of _different_ people overwhelmingly praising the game. Or heck, even Reddit - usually a cesspool of negativity - is far and away very positive about the game and EW in particular. And once again, the unique voices you'll see there dwarf anything you see here.

The "side that gets more votes" matters when something is lopsided, because it would be a horrible business decision to risk alienating the large majority of your playerbase just to satisfy the never-satisfied whims of a small group of people posting 24/7 on the forums.

Understandable but however they are not official. the best way for se to get data is actual doing a survey to the player base.

Good point. Then i have question: What is Island Sanctuary and what purpose/feature is entailed? Its not housing, its not an quest filled area, its not gardening in the sense of build or create something of value. So what is it ? Its disconnected from the rest of the game for what purpose ? This smells like SE does something the players wanted but in all the wrong directions or not ?

It could be just like every other self contained instance like Eureka and Bozja. Released to the wild for an expansion then maybe an adjustment or two to accommodate the post-expansion population but no real expansion of the content. Both Eureka and Bozja have marketable drops. Bozja can be used to level alt jobs.

From what we know about IS it's more akin to the Gold Saucer but without other participants. You can have spectators but if somebody wants to do IS activities they need to go to their own instance. Unless the devs have committed to adding new activities regularly I don't see the long term IS participation rate being sustainable enough to justify the expense of its development. I would be happy to be proven wrong.

I have a hard time wrapping my head around them going to so much effort for what seems like a disposable feature. It is my fervent hope that IS is just a test run to see how the instancing tech it performs under load. It would go a long way to explain to me the limited feature set (less moving parts to observe), the idle timeout (less active instances), and their odd decision to gate this by EW completion (limited number of active participants). Once they're happy with how it can handle the traffic they can reduce the limitations and maybe introduce more housing like capabilities.

Possible, but all we have seen so far are a few vids and reviews. It could be somthing new. We cannot judge it until its playable. Personally speaking I think it looks fun. Nice new gameplay loop to enjoy and spend time on, though am dissapointed it will not have much of a story it seems. Sound like we will get minion/mount/glam rewards too. It may not be the housing/gardening oppitunity some of us hoped, but then they never said it would be. Plus this is somthing they can hopefully add to as the patchs go on, perhaps even add fetures players want like what I just said and teleportation ect.

"Oh we don't want you using any mods" as they add in a feature that a UI mod has had for god knows how long.

I disagree that mods should be seen as the evil SE makes them out to be sometimes, but is it not a good thing to add features that people wanted into the base UI? Especially for us console users who do not even have access to mods in the first place.

Oh I agree 100%. Don't get me wrong. I just think it's interesting that they choose to ban people for using mods but decide to put in features of a mod. Kinda hypocritical if you ask me.
