How do you make friends?

Usually? I don't.

The meaning of 'friends' on the internet seems to have become 'add a stranger's made-up name to a list and then never interact with them again'.

Trying to form a meaningful relationship in a sea of strangers with no way to verify that anything they say is true is usually a fool's errand and can backfire spectacularly. Not to mention, text is an awful way to communicate and can be easily taken the wrong way. Tone of voice and expression give a ton of clues and with text that's just gone. Discord voice chat helps at least.

That's not to say it's impossible, just very unlikely.
