    Can we start making dyeable gear the standard?

    With the advent of the new vfx gear, it seems that SE is starting to look at gear rewards in a different light. We don't know for sure that the gear is Savage-only yet. It could be normal gear. But I definitely will be encouraging this trend toward thinking outside the box on what can be used as a reward besides the ability to dye.

    This is such a fundamental process in games nowadays, I would really like to see the ability to dye just become standard. I did like that we could unlock it with just a role quest for the Artifact gear, but I think they can give us something else for those quests besides the ability to dye.

    For harder content, vfx is a great idea. I've also long been a proponent of set bonuses. There is concern that that might be a drawback since BiS is often a mixture, but then again if they had set bonuses then maybe BiS could stay the gear that's harder to obtain. I'm sure there are other options they can consider as rewards related to gear.

    So tl;dr, SE please make the ability to dye gear a standard feature and no longer consider it something that needs to be a reward for certain content.

    This. I don't do savage progression, and the dyable stuff I want is all locked behind savage meaning I don't even have incentive to run the normals aside from roulettes.

    If they're going to start putting vfx on savage gear they could only put it on the savage counterpart and let the normal version be dyeable.

    I don't really like vfx, but I think it has a more visible bragging-right value compared to just dyeable version of raid gear. Like, everyone in the town can see you being flashy with your vfx, but pretty much only a handful actually pays attention on how you dye your gear. There is this Viera in my server that just afk stand near the Aetheryte spinning his Ultimate-raid AST globe for like half of a day. No one would give a care normally, but the vfx is eye-catching, making him more memorable than the butler outfit he has on.


    So yeah, the more dyeable the better.

    This is less about making things that can't be dyed at all dyeable and more about not putting the ability to dye something as a reward, any reward, even a simple questline. That it's something that's just natively available if there's going to be a dyeable version of something.

    VFX, different appearances, "hey this has a sick cape when the normal version doesn't", set bonuses, sparkles - I honestly don't care what MacGuffin they attach. Just for the love of the Twelve, let me dye my normal raid gear and Artifact gear and any other type of gear where dyeing gets locked to make it a puffed up reward instead of providing a real reward. It's like the participation trophy of rewards.

    The cape on that makes it a completely diffirent piece though, since there can be reasons not to want a cape (tail). Sparkles on that can actualy be just a disruptive effect that adds visual clutter. You might not want that either.

    I think a grindy way would be the best solution, where savage can give the reward instantly, the alternative would be to be able to gather a resource over time to remove this restriction (for example require 50 expert clears to unlock the dyable part on 1 gear piece).

    Would love for this to be a thing. There are too many pieces of undyeable gear that use custom colors that just so happen to NOT match any of our available dyes. :/

    The gear from savage being dyeable does motivate people to raid for it. I'm not sure if it would be a good idea, especially if the VFX don't happen in future tiers.
