If YoshiP feels the need to beg players not to fill their Glamour Dressers

The Blackbosom Reaper collection is a prime example.

The EXACT same model, 6 items. Can't be stored in the Armoire.

Even if they released all job restrictions on equipment and let you glamour any piece as another piece of the same type, you would still need those six iterations of the Blackbosom scythe because they're categorised as different weapon types even if the visible model is the same.

It's the same issue we have now with not being able to glamour "one-handed conjurer weapons" onto "two-handed conjurer weapons" even though both can be equipped by the same class. They're different item types.

To be fair, even if you don't keep every single item, you will still burn through the slots if you keep gear for multiple roles for the future glams. Nothing sucks more than to see something on Eorzea Collection and know you got rid of the dungeon piece you needed.

Personally I do think if people stopped storing 4 man items they are currently not using but can still be obtained is a waste of space even for future glams. I do think people just need to be more selective and strategic about what they store.

Whatever reason it was for SE, either through design decisions or just not trusting players to do sensible choices, further restrictions came around from this.

IIRC, people would wear such gear out of ignorance because the recommended gear button only considers ilvl and not main stats or something equally inept, or for spiritbonding purposes.

First, to answer about removing the job restrictions, unfortunately, we don’t intend to remove them. The reason is simple. For players who have played other Final Fantasy titles, they’ll easily recognize these gear designs as a way to identify a particular job...You wouldn’t want to see someone carrying an axe casting black magic. You’d wonder: What the hell kind of game is this?

Now this is hilarious, considering that this is raid gear for tanks.



Also both WHM and BLM use canes, and casting and healing sets are nearly always just recolors, yet you obviously can recognize them by animations and abilities. List goes on; PLD can hide his shield, sheathed scythes often look like greataxes, some weapons intentionally look like other (Blackbosom Reaper) and many, many more contradictions. Just remove all restrictions, they're useless.

People hoard gear because it's time consuming to get again. I know I would toss some gear if I could easily get it again. How is it that low budget F2P mmo have better glamour systems?

By time consuming they mean:

Fight RNGesus for the item to drop
Fight other people (RNG again) to obtain it.

Two layers of RNG just to get an item, worse if it's in a 24 man.

Also funny that on the quote he specifically mentions weapons, which is actually problematic due to animation issues as well, and curiously the movement of players asking for loose glamour restrictions rarely bring up weapons.

Tell me about it... I literally ran Qitana Ravel 34 times to get a specific item, and up to this day (I stopped counting at 25) I'm still trying to get Plague Bringer hat from Arboretum going solo.

We don't know... Last thing YP implied was that glamour system would get big changes/overhaul, but so far the only thing being implemented is space/slots, which is not really "change" as in approaching the system differently, but just expanding what we currently have.

I got ya! From 2019 a Kotaku Interview

My main account's current tank glam. She's clearly very imposing and ready to soak up all those... splashes? It's also my DRG and Healer glamour. So, ya know, not at all "confusing" for those supposed new players who would even care.



This has always been a laughable excuse when, in reality, they simply don't want to spend the time overhauling whatever code necessary to fix their abysmal glamour system. Not to mention, I wouldn't put it passed SE preferring what we have now as it means more retainer subscriptions.
