asem with what the OP asks, I don't think anybody wants a tank and a maiming class, or a healer and a caster, to be able to wear the same gear, but once it's glamour..
It's annoying even if you have all of the variant pieces and space for them (unlikely), because if you assign one to a glamour plate you get an error with any other job using the same glamour plate because of an earring. Perhaps a suitably 'FFXIV' solution (i.e. an overly complicated one) would be to be able to exchange say, lv61 earrings with a shared model across all classes with a lv1 all-classes version? People would still farm to get the original item but the glamour version of the item would then be perfect for the dresser and the originals wouldn't clog up storage space forever.

(Obviously an actual Glamour list where you can permanently unlock things without limits and dump the original items is the ideal.)

Yeah that's exactly what I meant, although I said it in more and probably less understandable words.

While I personally like the idea of also removing the level restriction (so I can use my favorite Paglth'an glam on BLU), I imagine that would rustle some jimmies around these parts. (Like everything does )

I'm also curious, in this hypothetical solution, would it be possible to "withdraw" your equipment from the glam chest? And if so, does it come out as the original piece as you put it in (thus requiring that the system "remember" what exact piece you submitted), or would it be the lv1 all-classes version? And if it's the unlocked version, would that need to be untradable?

Doing that would require to massively expand their database on accessories as they need to add a Level 1 'all classes' copy to each of them. I am not sure if their database can even manage that in the first place with copying every ring, yet alone accessories as a whole and even equipment. The query timers and the resulting loading delays would be insane.

Then the opposite. Have gear with identical visuals be equippable by everyone and automatically change stats depending on class, preventing the 'tanks in DPS gear' conundrum from ever being an issue in the first place. They can do this because it's already the case for Menphina's earring (which is annoying as a set piece because it's technically a level 1 item and won't take any higher level glamours, but mechanically it's very convenient). It's dumbing down the game and reducing the need for people to farm, but the glamour/storage bloat from all of the identical-looking jewellery is insane.
