I would think it would have similar properties to "the mist".
Aether is the source of all magics right? So a mass quantity of it could literally cause a disturbance.

That is what I think anyways ^^.

It would be interesting if it was a place to go to like in FFIV where you got to go to the moon. A good time for this would be the patch right before the 2.0 release so if it is going to crash into the planet they could make it like we tried to stop it from happening.

Maybe when Dalamud start getting closer and closer the Aetherial Tower will pop out the floor and stab Dalamud stoping the fall giving something like Cocoon on XIII.
