Moonfire Faire 2022 "Summer Sunset Bottoms" should be two separate items

That said, my spouse and I have thousands of dollars invested in each of our gaming rigs.
We dumped another $2500 into them in upgrades last month. Just for gaming.
That's 100 months of subscription fees for each of us, just for last month's upgrades.
So averaged over time, the subscription fees for FFXIV are basically nothing compared to the amortized cost of the HW we use to run it. YMMV.

Good for you guys, I redid my whole rig 2 years ago for 800 euro and it can run any game I want. And tbh FFXIV runs even on microwaves, it's not like you need some fancy expensive setup for it, until this upgrade I've been running it on 10+ years old rig scrapped together from throwaway pieces I got for free, and the only thing it wouldn't run in this game were Nier raids.

And again, "I spend much more on other stuff than I spend it on the subscription" isn't exactly an argument in favour of: "this game is free so you should accept whatever they throw at you with gratitude, how dare you have feedback!!!".

We are customers not beggars asking for charity.
And to be fair, even with an actually free product (which this isn't) people should still be writing reviews and feedback.

I actually like the design of the pants.

Don't really know what the merge of the 2 items into 1 is. Maybe they want to do this in the future so you can't buy the wrong one? Like in glam from Wolfmarks i could accidentally buy a item for female characters. There IS a warning but that also shows if you are on the wrong job. Simply trading male <-> female variants at an npc would be a better solution imho.

The weirdest thing is that the outfits don't even look similiar. So... why is this the same item?

At 5120x1440 at 100+Hz with almost all the graphics options at max? I sincerely doubt it.
FFXIV is a beautiful game. I might be salty, too, if I didn't have hardware that let me fully appreciate it.

I know this has been a heavy focus of discussion in another thread already, but between it not being the actual target of the OP and getting lost amid other discussions in the thread, I wanted to put it front and centre.

The new Moonfire outfits are cool, but the fact that they are provided as a single inventory item while presenting drastically different legwear for male and female characters is frustrating.

Frustrating is a massive understatement.

There is nothing about any outfit that needs to be set for one gender or the other. They should either give us a toggle to switch between the styles or release two separate un-gender-locked outfits. If they can have a "male" design auto-adapt between male lalafel, roe, and human, adapting same said design to fit a female toon is a cakewalk, especially since most of us have the same general body shape, save for height (and lalafel male/female seem to have no body difference at all, so any different-body-shape argument is truly flushed down the toilet). For that matter, both genders in-game are exactly the same below the waist, so there is NO valid reason to keep automatically putting female toons only in hot pants, miniskirts, bikinis, & high heels (ye gods, the so-called "sandals" on the female model are not even within a few thousand lightyears of "practical beachwear").

Choice. That's all we want. Goddammit, devs, give us the choice.

The Moonfire outfit is especially aggravating. The male toons get the beach trunks with the cool pattern. Us women get yet another tiny bikini bottom to clutter up the armoire - same design as all the other bikini bottoms. Again, there is no justification for it. How many same-exact-design-but-recolored bikini bottoms do the devs think we need?? Gimme the freakin' beach trunks just for some variation, for chrissakes.

The really frustrating thing is that there have been male-toon bikini bottoms in the past. So how come the guys suddenly get changed to jams & us women get stuck with the skimpy stuff??

btw, if you dye the top metallic orange & combine it with either the cargo pants from the recent street set or the Pagos bottoms (also colored metallic orange), you can cosplay as MC Hammer.

I cannot adequately describe how tired I am of how many pants/bottoms become a bikini or booty shorts on a female character. My Lala looks best in sporty outfits, and I want her to be able to wear a pair of loose shorts without having to change my character's gender! I was SO EXCITED when I saw the summer sunset bottoms because that's EXACTLY the type of garment I've been wanting to dress this character in! Boy howdy, was I disappointed! I really don't understand why SE didn't think girls would want the cute shorts when we're already swimming in dozens of similar bikinis that already exist in the game.

(Frankly, there should be no genderlocked clothes on Lalafell at all, but that's not the topic at hand, here)

I just bought myself a new expensive PC this year, which means I can look at the best version of FF14. I can also finance the subscription just fine.
Yet I still dont like that we only get that one item and wished that every gender could choose which one they want.

In real life I am one of those women that simply feel much more comfortable in those "boys bottoms" that also exist as female versions. So it would be really awesome to wear them ingame too.

Well at least the top ist good looking. I used it with normal knee-lenght trousers as my new tank glamour.

My spouse and I both agree with you, on the RL preference too (and no one wants to see me in a bikini bottom anyway.)

That said, we've both managed to come up with glams for our fem avatars that we like, so while we would of course like even more fashion options, we're not salty about the current restrictions; they don't affect our enjoyment of the game.

I personally don't wear beach-wear as a tank (I do in other roles), but for the one character I have who only has a tank class leveled, I have a second set of tank gear (from before I upgraded her "real" gear, but good enough) so I glam'd it using the new top and some other items, to give her something attractive and comfortable to wear when out shopping or running DoorDash/FedEx quests.

(My oldest, most-leveled character has multiple sets of i580/i590 left-hand healing gear, so I can use different glams on my WHM, SCH, and SGE. )

[Edit] the leg glams we'll be able to get through Island Sanctuaries look promising.
