I used to think that housing demolition was how they kept a certain number of people chained to the subscription even during downtimes of no content, but they've had a moratorium on demolition for so long at this point that it's hard for me to still believe that a sub-anchor is Square's primary goal. Also in regards to island sanctuary, Yoshi gave an interview with Famitsu recently where he apparently came right out and said that furniture wouldn't work on the island and it wasn't intended to replace housing at all. Even if a lot of it boils down to hardware shortages, they've had years to deal with this and XIV is hugely profitable for Square so Square would have to be stupid not to invest back into it to keep their money printer happy.

Call of Duty is highly profitable yet the Tick Rate is that of minecraft in a shooter. One reason is Shareholders. It is the same for XIV.. Think about it.

You showed me one post from the forums., link the other sources that you have since "everybody" is complaining(keep in mind a lot of people do not know how to tag properly). I got a house and apartment. I didn't like the fact that i had to click on board just get a house or putting my hat in some lottery system with rng. I want people to have there own place that they can call there own.

The Island could work but here is the kicker, once they do that people are going to ask why you cant do instance housing area? This is taking some sort of server space for every player to use

And besides, when i do search "lottery" nothing shows that anybody asked for this style system

Please link them and yes i did I typed in lottery in the search , nothing came up from 2017. The tags that where in the link you provided was housing houses not lottery . Since you have the information. I need them from the forums, reddit and other forums that people asked for this. Even in the different languages as well

If housing means that much to you all, then the answer is really simple. Move over to a less populated server and try your luck there. I am sure many of you lot would not only have better odds to get a house, but at least we have more people to play with in said servers. You will just find nothing but disappointment and will have to rely on Lady Luck to get any house at all if you intend to stay in an already populated server. You guys don't wanna hear it, but to be honest, it's the truth.

Also I say this because as someone who moved from Jenova to Sophia, I'd be happy to have you guys join us here. :P

Then you will hear them complaining no Large/Medium left. No Large/Medium Plot I want left etc. Remember when everybody thought they get a Free Ishard Large?

It was the same with Spriggan and Twintania on the EU DC. No one who wanted a House badly gave a fuck about those 2 new Servers.

And after all was gone we had this reaction of the average FF Player and OF Users



It will the be same on the New NA DC as well. Even with World/DC Travelling, Cross-Linkshells there will be complaints "but I dont want to leave my filthy ERP Server" etc.

In the end Squares solution will be just new DCs and Servers to spread out the population.

As someone who hails from Sophia (moved from Jenova), I can tell you this: right now there are like several mediums all over that are still awaiting an owner to buy them and some nice Larges in Goblet and less than a handful of Larges on Empyreum. If they don't want to transfer over, they can just make an alt, work it up, earn some gil by whatever means necessary (roulettes, crafting, RP businesses, etc.). If you ask me, that's a more productive way than just simply moping and complaining to Square Enix and hoping they implement the changes THEY want. But by then, those plots will end up being occupied and we would have to wait for new servers again and the cycle goes on and on and on.

Another reason I implore people for this option is that if they don't, there is a possibility that bots would take up those plots (kind of easy to identify when they usually just cycle through the random name generator and add a random letter at the end of the surname) sooner or later. I'd rather have alt characters inhabit such plots.

Lottery removes and advantage of people being able to get the house when the timer goes away and everyone is at work or at sleep, likewise it generates advantages of bots and players committing RMT actions selling their shell FC's for 100s of dollars on shady sides.

There is not argument against the lottery, unless you are into the RMT business, and you will notice it is the same people that complain about the fairplay in each of these posts or create anti lottery posts as in themself, they are either willing to spam a placecard for days or using third party software to do such.

After years of housing salt most people still can not see the writing on the walls. Ever really wonder why SE never truly went for instanced housing? Money. Your subscription. They know if you the player waited years and never got a house, to finally have one, you wouldn't unsub for a long time.

Housing 1.0 Needed better tweaks instead the changes we got (Placard clicking) resulted in this current housing "fiasco" this is the DIRECT result of the Vocal majority screaming for a lottery. Stop complaining. You wanted this.

Island Sanctuaries are going to be your Instanced housing there is a reason they made it so you can gather and plant things. After all it is your own private island.

(Here is one to think about) FC Only wards and Players wards are a two tier society. Its either you play the lottery and win a house, odds are you'll win the Cactpot first by the way Or, you can buy an FC. Before you even think about commenting on this think about it.

IF you are unlucky and dont have a house you'll be waiting till the next zone more than likely (Hopefully Sharlayan housing)

Yes, there were some players asking for a lottery. I wouldn't call them the vocal majority. There were just as many of us pushing back against the idea because we knew it wouldn't solve what they were really complaining about (not being able to get a house). But it did at least solve the placard camping complaints.

Yes, a few players suggested instanced islands for housing. While being an island, Island Sanctuary isn't what your link post was asking for. It was asking for something that worked like apartments and that would also include a garden area. We're getting a garden area. We're not getting apartments with it.

Most players have did not ask for what we're now getting. They have the right to leave their feedback about how the system changes make them feel.

On the other hand, many of them said nothing at all even though they're been playing for a few years. They shouldn't be surprised that SE is implementing things other players did suggest. Maybe if they had come forward with their feedback about what they wanted, SE would have been implementing that instead or in addition to what we're getting.

The problem is that NA and EU players don't want to be playing on OCE for the same reasons the OCE players asked for a OCE data center in the first place. They want their house to be where they play.

Creating an alt to purchase the house just for the sake of having the house doesn't accomplish anything either. Players want the house the be a home for their main character. They want it to be a part of their normal game play. It's simple for me to drop in at my house as I go to and from content because it's on the same world where I play. I'm living close to my work instead of living halfway around the world fromit, so to speak.

I'm not certain how quickly the new housing on EU is filling up but we're only had one completed lottery period so far and this current lottery period is the first one where FCs are able to buy.

It still doesn't help NA where demand is the greatest since we have the highest world populations. We won't see more houses until November (assuming it doesn't get pushed back even farther).

I'm not certain how often anyone here uses data center travel but as someone who's used it a fair bit now, it's frankly annoying especially when it's just for a brief visit.

Log out. Select destination world. Wait for system to verify the destination is available to Travelers and prepare the character data. Wait for the character data to get transferred to the destination. Log back in. Repeat when you want to leave. Repeat when you want to return or want to go to another data center. Repeat when you want to leave again.

It ends up a poor solution for those who change home worlds to get a house but want to continue playing with friends on their old home world. Unless you're using a third party app to communicate with your friends, you end up cut off from communication when you're not on the same world. Even if those apps aren't in violation of the ToS since they don't interact with or modify game files, players are still being forced to use them to be able to play the game with friends if they're not on the same data center. Not everyone wants to have to use those apps.

If you're not using them, do you randomly visit their world just to see if they're online then travel back when they aren't online or aren't available? Or do you give up your friends as lost to you?
