Imagine if you're a field medic but you're refusing any fire arms because you think healers should not do damage.
It’s because square has this horrid mentality of the DPS being the main character and we are just there to support them. We don’t need to do damage as a healer because that’s the DPS job and you are taking that away from them, why can’t you just quietly sit at the back and support your DPS while getting no fulfilment out of your own role

It’s the same logic that plays into meteor always being a melee, casters aren’t “cool” (unless it’s BLM) and healers are even worse, they are never going to make meteor a healer and that’s because we are just a sideshow in this game

It does feel like that. You get interesting damage rotations, positionals, movement tools and high damage. And you STILL get damage mitigation and healing as dps.
Sam losing Kaiten really opened my eyes on how spoiled dps actually are in this game. They have been streamlining and oversimplifying healers to speed up dps queues and we're told to shut up because apparently we're supposed to be harmless sylphies. They lose 1 (one) ability and lose their mind because their rotation no longer feels good, when ours have been reduced to a 30 second long spamfest of 1 button, after which we get to refresh our weak DoT. (Can't have good healers stand our from bad ones too much after all) There's no depth to explore on healers, and ''play ultimates'' is the excuse thrown at us. Yeah, challenging instances are engaging. In the same sense that goldsaucer minigames can be engaging. My job does not change. I'm still mashing the same button over and over again. My core gameplay remains the same.

I’m so so over the Kaiten discussion, god I wish the Kaiten squad could put a modicum of effort into defending any job besides their precious melee/BLM’s plus their overzealous complaints have delayed our AST rework

Sure I empathise and the Kaiten removal really was a crap decision but god damn if they really can’t see the forest from the trees in this situation
