    Because the people who do it are professional toxic casuals who whine about the idea of anything more difficult than chewing gum in every single thread in the general forums, and pretend like FFXIV has some horrible widespread problem with evil stinky elitists ruining their chill zen no-expectations paradise while hypocritically shrieking about the mere existence of anyone who does difficult content, whether they interact with them or not. The difference is that the toxic "elitism" is explicitly punishable by the TOS, but toxic You Don't Pay My Sub And How Dare You Offer Me Advice behavior isn't, and I'll continue to yawn and dismiss the whining about "potential elitism" until that changes.

    We learned just three months ago that these people piss and moan about things that don't even affect them on streams and get people temp bans for it. I don't care what spectre they're shaking at this week.

    Genuine question really.

    If you want challenging dynamic difficulty you'd need to nerf healing across the board, make damage more constant and lower the GCD.
    Otherwise it'll be damn the healers dead or the meta is now SMN/RDM and nobody will queue for it in DF.

    I'm definitely looking forward to it, though while trying to keep my expectations low until I actually see it. Sounds like just my thing, I'm carefully optimistic.

    I don't get the whining from the more casual crowd about it though. If you're not interested, just don't do it.
    I'm not one bit interested in Island Sanctuary, yet I don't whine that they're doing it. It's content for a different type of player and that's fine. I'm just happy that, after a long time, it seems like there will be something new for the type of player I am.

    Square has a pretty well established set of difficulty enhancing changes:

    - Make failed mechanics one shot (to a varying degrees from failing major mechanic to failing every mechanic)
    - Introduce DPS check
    - Replace vuln ups with damage downs
    - Add group coordination to mechanics
    - Make it so role assignment within a mechanic isn't static
    - Make mechanics faster paced
    - Reduce amount of downtime where boss just raidwides/TBs
    - Start overlapping multiple mechanics at the same time
    - Push more difficult mechanics into even minute points so they overlap with burst
    - Add debuff passing between players

    Oh, and SMN/RDM are irrelevant. At higher difficulties combat rezzing will be straight up disabled.

    Debuff that negate healing on you when you fuck up, the infamous damage reduction debuff, association of mech that are intuitive and ask you logical deduction to be done properly (for example an ahk morne coupled with an aoe time bomb on each party member where you'll have to stack and make the guy who's about to explode go away and comeback as fast as he can while the Ahk morne go on.)

    There are plenty of way to associate current mechanics and debuff to make content more engaging and fun.

    How about making it like an SCP critter instead? You know the content exists? Your character instantly dies the moment you log into the game. It's so hard you die just by being aware of it. The only way to not insta die is to clear the content but you can't even play the game since you are dead. This applies to every character or account you ever make because it's entirely based on the fact that you, the player, know the content exists.

    The kind of thing I'm really looking for is like the One Sin event from .hack. It was supposedly so hard that only 2 players in the entire game were ever able to finish it. Basically I want to see content that is so hard, no one in this game is ever able to actually win for the games entire lifespan, though winning is possible. People say they want hard content, lets go all in.


    I'm probably going to try the hard version of the dungeon myself. Provided anyone in my FC wants to try it.

    So it's basically if the healer dies it's over - seems a lot of pressure to put on a role that few want to do anyway.

    Not so much an issue if it's a PF thing - going to be no end of stress in the DF if not.

    But anything new is good - considering the lack of any sort of challenging mid-core content.
