Perhaps the previous Lahabrea was the one who was involved in the hemitheos business originally and ended up having to be sealed away in the depths after he took things too far.
Considering Pandaemonium is a Guardian Force summon spell in FFVIII (changed in English as 'Pandemona' though due to character limits), I think this may turn out to be the case. And at the very least, Themis stating that in the stinger was a FFVIII reference if nothing else.

Not being super versed in FFVIII this sticks out to me. Those golden orb eyes... Hmmm... :3c And it's a wind based thingie, and we've only had Water and Fire in a game that loves the elements in this raid tier(Multi elemental attacks from final boss notwithstanding).

I'd like to say it's pre- and post-fall Lahabrea on the top and bottom, respectively, but the bottom man appears to be wearing the standard Amaurotine mask and not Lahabrea's unique Convocation mask (unlike the top one who at least appears to be holding said Lahabrea mask).

The other two are obviously Erichthonios and Themis (a.k.a. Elidibus), while there isn't enough detail on the figure in the doorway to figure anything out.

The Lahabrea - Pandaemonium connection is easily drawn with the derivative esper from Ivalice - Mateus, the Corrupt is the Scion of Darkness to Lahabrea, Scion of Light in Ivalician mythos, with Mateus' name coming from Final Fantasy II's Emperor Mateus Palamecia, who after dying and taking over Hell, returned to Earth as the Emperor of Darkness and raised Pandaemonium from the depths as his palace.

I doubt it has anything to do with the GF from VIII; that was a one-off summon, and a rather unimpressive and immemorable one at that. (And yes, I know other one-off summons have been used before, but those were all big end-game ones; Knights of the Round, Eden, and Ark.)

Lahabrea has a penchant for making fire creations, according to Emet in 'Ere Our Curtain Falls'. I think that's more of a nod to Hephaestus than anything else. The name Pandaemonium may well have nothing to do with previous references in the series, although it is fun seeing potential links. We haven't really seen any major motifs that link up with FFII/XIII/IX yet, and I would have expected the musical score to hint at it stylistically. FFII has some fairly memorable tracks.

Then again, the character in white in the back might introduce themselves as Minwu for the laugh and everything would change. Who knows, really.

I just see potential for it to be a raid boss with an all wind themed battle theme so they can reuse mechanics from Garuda HM, Garuda Ex, Garuda/Rakshapatashafhsdjfkj(Eden), Bismarck, Acheron(Phlegethon), and any other boss with a few big wind based specials.

I think from the the key art we may have a connection with FF9.

Fleshy eye like backgrounds being a theme.

I'm not sure what elements from FFIX's Pandaemonium they could borrow, though, given that it's largely a homage to other games in the series. Although I wonder if someday they'll use Zenos' Avatar as a means of finally giving a backstory to Necron.

Pure speculation, but given Pandaemonium in FF9 has is the place where the

    Souls of Terra are at

Maybe 14’s will serve a similar function?

FFXI also had a Pandaemonium type boss with Pandaemonium Warden. This was a big world super boss like Absolute Virtue (which was show cased in FFXIV in the Baldesian Arsenal.

The old man is most likely Hephaestus, and Lahabrea of his time, seeing as this lines up with mythology and as presented in game.

I think people might have missed that Erichthonios' (Eric) super form we fight when we first show up has the Lahabrea mask embedded on its head.

Imo this is pretty much straight up showing that he's the future Lahabrea we deal with in the modern times.

What confuses me is the connection of Themis and Elidibus. Could someone point out where this is made in the game? This gives me really weird implications, seeing as Elidibus was supposed to have been a really young Ancient. Yet Themis wears the white robes of someone whom has refused to return to the life stream after completing what would be considered by their society's standard their life's work (same as Venat does..)

This sounds great except for the fact that it contradicts known facts. Specifically, the Shadowbringers short stories from Emet's perspective describes both the Lahabrea that made Phoinix, and the Lahabrea that got murderstomped by Thordan, as the same guy. Since Phoinix is already dealt with and accounted for in Pandaemonium, then that means either the Lahabrea at that point is the Lahabrea we fought, or that the switchout was so secret that Emet wasn't aware of it.

Both of which are possible, after all. We're dealing with a normal raid storyline, and those stories always go turbo-bonkers to a level where if you're not predicting at least two weird twists ahead, you aren't gonna get close.
