Event outfits and that what Canadane wears at least doesn't look like nor give the impression to be another class. Don't know why they did a sky pirate set without restrictions, though.I feel like the only thing that restrictions help to do is keep the dev's original vision for tanks/healers/dps roles more intact*. You will always have people who go for basics, and that's fine, but there is no way that having hundreds (and hundreds) more items to choose from would stifle creativity.
*This ship sailed ages ago with how much regular fashion (events/mogstation/crafted glams, etc) is now in game. And then we also have SE reusing outfits and simply recoloring them in order to give them to an entirely different job type.
ETA: Also, I'm having a hard time with this part of your comment specifically Unless your character linked here is just a maxed out mule and you've fooled us all, you've used the same glamour basically since the beginning of time. However, that outfit is made up of non-class specific items, and there would be no way to tell what job or style you were actually going for. So it's a little hypocritical that you don't want others to have more options for "slapping together whatever works on everything" and using it all the time when that's exactly what you've done for years.
What you say is limitations I see as a challenge!
Which is why most of my glams suck maybe
Personally i dont mind too much having job restrictions with certain glamours because i like having the different jobs look different and enjoy finding the right look for that job. Now by job im just talking war, magic, the land should be able to share and so should hand professions.
What? Don't you wanna be a Dancer with yeehaw outfits? You can do that kind of dance... lol. But yeah. Dancers and Reapers suffers a lot from the armor silhouette they're at.
On the OP again, something I'd like to point out is that the restrictions are also really strange within their own limitations.
Technicalities aside - on a conceptual level, why Caster and Healer can't glam the same items, when they literally have the exact same models 90% of the time? Why do I need to have the Edenmete necklace (my favorite neck piece) occupying 5 different item slots in my glamour dressed when it is exactly the same item?
I just got the visual of my DNC doing all line-dancing moves, with the LB3 being achy-brakey heart. What? Don't you wanna be a Dancer with yeehaw outfits? You can do that kind of dance... lol. But yeah. Dancers and Reapers suffers a lot from the armor silhouette they're at.

There is a 98 page long Thread starting 2017.
Request to unlock Hempen set styles.
A response from Community Rep Luxpheras from 2017.
2017Hello again, Eorzeans.
We appreciate your continued feedback on the subject of unlocking the variances in appearance of the Hempen set across all races.
It looks like an overwhelming majority of you are very interested in this! As such, we have forwarded this feedback to the development team. In response, they would like to let you know that they are considering this for a future update!
It's a request for just one lvl 1 set.
So, good luck with your request for lifting all Glamour restrictions.
To me it looks like as if the Com. Reps. have got an order to not answer any questions about Glamour.
My guess is. There has to be another Calamity to make the Devs and Yoshida listen to the Community.
I think it's true in a way, because it presents something of a challenge. If you want an armoured healer, you have to rummage around and find parts from three different sets that work together. If you're just allowed to wear tank gear in the first place, it stops being the same kind of achievement and feeling of subverting what your job is supposed to wear.Also... It's beyond me why some people think that limitations = more creativity. It would be true in real life when you literally can think about countless options on, for example, how to make a cellphone stand yourself when you can't buy one. This is a game, where we get limitations of limitations (since we can't actually design our own stuff).
I'm not saying that's better than having access to everything, but it's a specific joy of "beating the system" that you can't have if the system says "go ahead, you're allowed to do it".
I've said before, will say again... there is a good amount of aiming gear that suits dancer and not MCH.
If anything, the problem is that it has to "split its attention" and give some designs to each aesthetic, so for all of the aiming jobs you can point out a lot of aiming gear that doesn't suit them, but does suit one of the other two.
I think gunbreaker has it tougher with role gear versus personal aesthetic, and has to turn to using gathering gear a lot. I haven't tried assembling sage or reaper outfits much yet, but they also feel more limited.
I think it is entirely down to technicalities. Glamour isn't their first consideration but the last. There needs to be a Gear of Casting and a Gear of Healing for each item, and they need to be locked to only be equipped by their respective jobs, and they each need an appearance associated with them. It doesn't matter whether the two pieces have the same appearance or not, the system doesn't see it as the same thing.Technicalities aside - on a conceptual level, why Caster and Healer can't glam the same items, when they literally have the exact same models 90% of the time? Why do I need to have the Edenmete necklace (my favorite neck piece) occupying 5 different item slots in my glamour dressed when it is exactly the same item?
