I see! Then... well, that's power-leveling, but not as extreme as it is here, the player is still doing something with the other. Here you just let the L50 claim monsters, kick him from the party, let him kill and then regroup, rinse and repeat

Actually, the level 50 doesn't even need to be in the party. As long as the lower level person attacks/claims a monster, the 50 (anyone, really) can just run in and kill it. The one who had the claim gets the benefit.

It's for the safety of the party though. A L30 party taking on a group of L40 monsters could be dead at glance, so here goes the L50 trying to do the job for them.
