As long as people keep suggesting to take stuff away, to make it more exclusive, SE will do it, because it's easier for them.

It really saddens me to see so many people on this forum either making excuses for Square or thinking up new and creative ways to take houses away from other people.

This 'Take it away from them!' attitude has got us:

- An auto-demoliton system where you can lose your house even while you are paying a sub and lose mog-station and seasonal furnishings as well.

- The timer that led to mass-botting and honest players getting carpel-tunnel syndrome

- And now, the lottery where you and probably 200+ other players can all bid against each other to get something that is adveritised as a feature of the game.

None of these things have made the game more enjoyable or given the majority of the player-base access to the housing of their choice.
Imagine that for a moment, the housing of your choice, not just grabbing what you can, where you can but actually being able to choose. It feels like a silly pipe-dream, but it shouldn't. Other games manage it just fine.

Prior to the lottery, it would be extremely rare to find that many players camping the same placard. Generally you'd be looking at 10-20 players for a small, maybe 40-50 for a medium.

Basically, the lottery decreased the chances of getting a plot for those who were willing to put effort into obtaining one while increases the chances for those who didn't want to bother camping so they could do other things instead.

What the Lotto truly did. Is stop players who were using macro clickers to stand and click plaques anyone remember the guy that lost millions cause the guy stood in from the plaque..hmm why that happen.. Cause he was running a program to auto click the plaque..

I hate band aid fixs but in but this one this made it more fair for people did 100% make it more fair for people.. The only way to make lotto would be unfair is to be able to draw the #0....... OHH wait!!!!!

As for raising the chances or lowering them its to hard to tell with out all the info..How many plots won by auto click programs vs how many won due to player clicked to start..but it as proven 100% at lest one person was using a program to click the plaque...Im have to find that video now on how much he lost..

Edit: the video on it says the guy lost 237million using a program to auto click

I am not saying the lottery is the cause of the housing shortage (of course it isn't). My point is this - pushing for houses to be taken away from other players has resulted in measures to make the present situation fairer and more bearable. It has not pushed Square towards fixing the actual problem.

If we as a community continue to demand houses are taken away from the 'undeserving', then all we are going to get are more band-aids and minor tweaks.
I'd rather see Square working on ways to provide enough houses for everyone.

All i want is craft those minions, orchestral rolls and all that stuff that needs items which are exclusively gained from gardening! I hate to be at the mercy of the market board! Let me get that stuff myself somehow!

@Solarra: ah ok. The way you phrased it it wasn't clear if you meant the lottery was at fault.

So lottery diminished the chances for bots and people that waste a full day to click a thing in a videogame. Tbh not that much of a sacrifice in my opinion. If you want to increase your chances just get more characters on the same server! (Yes there is someone on this forum who advocates for this. Clarification: I don't mean myself. I find the idea to pay extra to get better chances ridiculous)

Then why not ask a friend who has a house and isn't using their garden to add you as a tenant so you can use theirs? The amount you would have to pay to get a house exceeds how much you would have to pay to get all those gardening items you want from the marketboard.

Orchestrion rolls aren't tied to gardening, by the way.

It had been. SE changed that with the expansion launch if I remember correctly.

Yeah that one was submarine or airship missions... i kinda put all those into "unobtainable" for me.
None of my friends have houses.
ALL materials for crafts that require gardening are still cheaper than 3 mill? Maybe. The annoying thing is that i am at the mercy of other players. No one selling the item i want right now? Oh someone just put it up... for 400k each and i need like 10... (just an example). The point is i would be reliant on the marketboard.
