I play since Shb (3 years ? 4 ? Bloody senility) and had maybe a dozen of those little incidents. Most of the times when it goes wrong everybody just stay silent. Which can be damn stressful when you're a newbie and you just KNOW you f*cked up.

Maybe I'm the virtual equivalent of a capybara.

Edit : is it a new trend to yell on FF community ? 'Cause in the French community, a lot of people complain about it, but they all seem to enjoy being a special snowflake more than anything else.

(I'll slap a cheese on the head of the first person who tells me that it's normal for the French community to complain).

That's actually really enlightening, because you'll hear "NA complain the most" a lot around here.

I think the GCBTW meme got too strong, and when people encounter an interaction that could be read in any way as negative it's warped into this ultra-slight against them. Kind of like how a tiny black splotch is most prominent in a pure white room. FFXIV has an illusion of the perfect community, but we're all just people, and not all people get along.

    That's something I don't get either.
I keep seeing people say something about people yelling/ screeching/ screaming at them in dungeons and I'm like... what? Where? And what do they even classify as that?
When someone uses yelling/ screeching/ screaming, I think of something like tank died and writes "HEALER ???? -.- are u blind??" or a dps ate several aoes and healer goes "OMG stop standing in shit are u dumb??". And those things would get you a one-way ticket to GM jail or even banned.

I think I've seen this behaviour only once and the person got reported, they got really abrasive, capslock warrior, insulted etc., maybe more but that's really the only one I can remember.
The rest was more passive-aggressivenes under the guise of being nice like "you have mitigation in case you didn't know, I'll even give you time to look for those buttons now : )))" but even that is fairly rare. Mostly people just stay quiet or if someone write "sry my bad" they just get a few "np/ no worries/ happens" and that's it. I wouldn't classify things like "you can go faster than at snail's pace, u know?" as yelling and why dramatize and inflate things for more attention if it results in the opposite and just makes people suspicious?

The problem is the community has cultivated the idea that you don't have to heed any advice, either given politely or rudely since your money is paying your sub. It's those people who no matter how nicely you word your advice, you continue to see tanks pop mit at like 20% health, not use mit on big pulls, people holding CDS to use on bosses instead of trash, or players doing single target rotations when there are 10+ mobs around them. Sure people are at different skill gaps. The difference is unless somebody points out to you that something is wrong, you literally have no idea in this game due to not having any comparable feedback. The only way you learn it is by somebody telling you "hey you should do X instead of Y because of Z reason" or them watching a video outside of the game.

The issue is that people do not stop in between pulls so while you are typing out "Hey [person's name] you should try and use at least one form of defensive cooldown at the start of the pull to help me out with healing, it would help me out a lot with healing" your dumb tank has already started pulling mobs or is sprinting into the boss. So often most people will just opt for "Hey tank, please use CDs/Defensives/Mit".

I don't doubt the cultivation of these ideas, but I think a lot of times, people just don't know. People just have a tendency not to say something on one end or another. Maybe they got some bad advice on facebook or somewhere. Hell, some people think they can actually function when tired or intoxicated, but will never say a word until the mistakes start adding up. Even then, the response might be subtle, like switching Dance Partner to tank when a DPS is doing poorly in a dungeon. It all goes beyond the game and into general interactions.

Im talking about being in a dungeon and giving advice to another player, not a player going out of their way to ask for advice since that very rarely happens.

There's an old saying that if you're smelling s--t everywhere you go, check your shoes. Another variant is if you run into a few jerks, it's them, if you run into jerks EVERYWHERE, it's you. Either works since they mean the same thing lol.

Never have I come across a kys fool in dungeons and I solo queue only, have had exactly 3 experiences of what I would consider bad, one in a dungeon (parser), guildhest (typical mentor bashing) and EX Thordan (possible troll, one healer was wearing statless glam items, changed gear after getting called out). Granted I don't do the sav/ult stuff but if your static is cussing each other out, I'd suggest finding one that has more patience.
