Let's Talk About the Awesome Quality of Side Stories in this Game (Minor Spoilers)

I suspect there has to be something horribly wrong in the english translation of the paladin questline.
I really REALLY don't understand why the paladin soul stones are at war with eachother.

I really enjoyed the side quests with those little Doman kids and their "Adventurers Guild". It was really sweet, adorable and funny at times. Then I also really liked the one in the Crystarium where you got to welcome a new born baby into the first as the Warrior of Darkness. I'm a sucker for babies and newborns.

I'm not even going to bother reading the rest. This first sentence tells me EVERYTHING I need to know. You saw a legitimate criticism of the game, had a stroke because someone dared not worship the ground Yoshi P stands on, and decided to make an actual troll/bait post to keep up the illusion that all is well.

What's stopping you from being positive in the other thread? If the trolls are using skewed facts or flat out lies then wouldn't it be easy to dismantle said arguments?

Since a troll thread was thrown out there of course bad-mouthing every single thing possible in the game, I figured let's balance it with a more honest assessment

I LOVE the side stories in FFXIV. They're varied in style, and I love how they find ways to link some of them together in unexpected ways that makes you smile when you realize the connections and callbacks. My favorite so far has been the side quest in Sharlayan to find the rogue Carbuncle and the realization that it's Tataru's from a loooong time ago that she thought was a failure. Instead it turns out she created one of the strongest carbuncles ever (able to survive without the direct connection to its summoner).

Then you have things like the role quests. Each one has a distinct theme, AND they contribute significantly to world-building to boot. (Anyone raising their eyebrows about how the same people complain the Hildibrand relic idea wouldn't be world-building, but then complain that the role quests ARE world-building?) And by separating them by role instead of each individual class, it's much more accessible to a wider population who doesn't have the time to level each and every class, but can at least get one of each type going. They still experience the full story.

Then there's things like Hildibrand. Pure fun. Silly comic relief that doesn't pretend to be anything but silly comic relief. A breath of fresh air that I think we all need when playing a game.

The effort they put into even the small side-quests at the hubs and give them meaning is impressive.

It wasn't a troll post. This is the problem with this game's general community. Accept that there are aspects in this game that need improvement and stop white knighting for everything. I love this game so much, but I also recognize many of its flaws. That is why people speak out against it. We want this game to be better because we love playing it and don't want to see it burn out. Why is that so hard to understand?

This games lore is anything but close to the state of WoW lore. Especially since wow's lore has been an absolute mess from it's inception such as the entire faction system and the night elves becoming beholden to an alliance they have zero connection too.

How about we talk about the fact that every time legitimate criticism pops up about this game now someone wets their pants and screamcries making a thread that is the exact opposite of the one that got them going.

This is getting ridiculous.

This wouldn't even be a problem if people could just make criticism in a non-toxic way.
The problem with '' criticism '' here ( and in most places really ) is that it's toxic as hell, and people act like it's not just their opinion but some objective fact that is just obvious.
And if you can't give criticism without personally insulting and attacking the devs then there's no real value to it, you just come across as a screeching child and the devs are just going to ignore it.

Just because you think something isn't good doesn't make it objectively bad.
The problem is that people are being extremely toxic in how they deliver their feedback if you actually take a look around the threads and they talk about it as if it's some objective fact that everyone agrees on and that anyone who disagrees is a '' white knight '' and that the devs and writers are stupid and incompetent.

The person in question this thread is referring to I think had something like 60 threads in less than a year that are all like this, every single on has like paragraphs after paragraphs of personal attacks and insults towards the devs and are just extremely hyperbolic.
And that was last time it wouldn't surprise me if they'll be up to like 100 soon.
