Yeah it's pretty much over unless you dump your FC/friends and move to some dead new world/DC. Better off waiting for them to add more wards, or failing that just find another creative outlet because this game ain't it.

I suspect we'll be getting more wards in all districts before the next expansion. Will that satisfy the demand no but it will at least give those who want one another opportunity.
Hmmmmm, what to do is the quandary. Like many, myself and other members of my FC have been trying to get a house via the new system and been unsuccessful, so what's the answer?
Like some have said, you could wait for the new DC's and swop, leaving your long established FC and friends behind.... doesn't speak to a sense of loyalty or honour to abandon one's friends for housing/garden.
It was hoped the new Island Sanctuary might provide a solution, and whilst I'm still interested to see what it brings, it was a source of major disappointment to myself and many others, when the opportunity to let everybody have a house/garden of their own was missed, so sadly that was a road not taken.
Then there's the question of auto-demolition.... for goodness sake, bring it back!! If someone is no-longer active, then let someone who is active enjoy the full benefits of the game. As many have said, housing maybe the real 'end game' for FFXIV, so let everybody have the opportunity to enjoy it.
Similarly, open up new housing areas... yes this takes more resource etc, but surely enough people are subscribed to the game to make this warranted and affordable. I anticipated that Old Sharl would have been a great place when Endwalker started, but that didn't happen. Similarly, other areas might be considered, e.g. Drav Hinterlands maybe.
For those of you who were lucky enough to get housing today, gratz and enjoy. For those of us who didn't, we'll continue to try, but anticipate that more folk will become disenfranchised if SE don't do anything to address this major issue with, what is otherwise, a great game.

It's too late at this point all they can do is band-aid fixes while those of us who just want to experience a core feature of the game get shafted. But by the time they communicate even the smallest update about it we will have already been subbed for X months so SE just keeps winning while players who want decent housing keep losing.True, and I have considered it. However, I am in a wonderful FC and I don't want to leave them. If they just increase the number of wards, or worst case, make housing instanced, the problem is solved. Just wish the dev team put more thought and planning into the housing system before committing.
If you're considering transferring to one of the new worlds, don't do it when they first open (unless a bunch of your friends also want to go to start a FC there together). Do it just before they open up the housing districts so you'll have better idea of your chances of getting a house. So since many people, myself included cannot get lucky enough to access the only feature of the game gated by a literal lottery your options are what? After more than half a year trying to get a house it just feels like we aren't being respected at all. Apartments are not the same as a house full stop.
- Wait for new servers to open up transfer and hope to win there(then lose and be forced to stay there or pay to transfer back)
- Pray SE adds more wards (highly doubtful)
- Make a shell fc and try for one of the plots there (thus defeating the purpose of there being separation of fc and personal wards but sure)
I agree it's doubtful that SE will be adding more wards before next expansion. I think people are forgetting there's a phase two for the worlds expansion next summer for both EU (new data center with 8 new worlds) and NA (4 additional worlds for the data center opening this summer). By the time those new worlds get settled, 7.0 will be on top of us. The only way I could see them considering new wards is if the wards on the JP worlds fill up to JP players can't get houses.
While I wish players didn't have to resort to creating a shell FC to get access to a house for personal use. that's the situation SE has created. Might as well make use of it if other options don't work for your specific situation.
I would hope that SE would realize that withholding housing for 3-4 months then reserving 75% of it for nearly non-existent FCs is not the way to go.They're adding 4 new worlds in NA and opening housing after that so there's about 28k-30k houses between those servers they'll open up after 3-4 months.
After that though they seem to have nothing on the roadmap so you're probably screwed unless they restart the demolition timer or they add another area in 7.1
But I wouldn't count on it.
I think you're reaching for something that doesn't exist considering how housing has changed since it was implemented. I sincerely doubt SE knew what direction housing was going to go considering it was FC only at first with only 5 wards and no subdivisions.
If most of your FC has been trying unsuccessfully, moving together to one of the new worlds could be the answer (depending on what social circles they might be part of outside of the FC). It's something to talk about.
Are you genuinely subscribed solely for the chance to get a house? It's too late at this point all they can do is band-aid fixes while those of us who just want to experience a core feature of the game get shafted. But by the time they communicate even the smallest update about it we will have already been subbed for X months so SE just keeps winning while players who want decent housing keep losing.
If so, you're playing the wrong game. You should be putting your money into a game where you don't have to fight to get a house.
Jojoya, it's something we'd talked about, but like the economy on our current server. However, now might be the time to seriously consider it![]()
Just a warning i see your on NA..you have to move to Eu or japan for new server..Im NA stuck on a EU server till transfers open and i can tell you the ping for me is a problem my friend in cali to (im est)..So consider that if you all are savage raiders or ulties.. good luck i hope ur fc gets one soon
As buyers, you'd still have data center travel to access your current marketboards.
As sellers, it's somewhat iffy. Prices tend to be higher due to scarcity but it also comes with the drawback of fewer buyers (especially since they'll have access to data center travel).
Certainly it's a time to discuss how much having a house or lacking one will impact your overall game experience. Better to start discussion now so you'll have a plan once the worlds do open.
Good luck to you and your friends whatever you end up deciding.
NA is getting an entirely new data center with 4 new worlds this summer, and an additional 4 new worlds planned to be added next summer.Just a warning i see your on NA..you have to move to Eu or japan for new server..Im NA stuck on a EU server till transfers open and i can tell you the ping for me is a problem my friend in cali to (im est)..So consider that if you all are savage raiders or ulties.. good luck i hope ur fc gets one soon

I suspect an announcement about the new data center will be getting made during the next Live Letter.

Housing is already instances. SE just refuses to explain why they can't/won't provide larger sizes and more of it.
