    LIVE Letter Regarding DRG & AST Postponed Reworks

    "...we mentioned that dragoon and astrologian would receive extensive adjustments in Patch 6.2; however, we’ll be postponing these adjustments based on the feedback we’ve received since Patch 6.1."
    It seems weird to me that they're basing these postponements on the feedback of the reworks they gave jobs that didn't necessarily need them, despite DRG and AST definitely needing their actions-per-minute fixed urgently. I literally hurt my finger playing DRG on controller.

    Thoughts?

    The issue is that most people think they are reworking something that does not need it right now. Dragoon at most maybe cpuld get Battle Litany merged with Dragon Sight so its only 1 button press, every 2 mins for both the raid buff and the damage buff on someone. They should allocate resources for jobs which need it more.
    Also people are scared that by "reworking" they mean simplifying those jobs to the level of summoner or taking away their identity / core mechanic ( Kaiten).

    what is wrong with having one job that hase a few more buttons? arent there 18 others with less buttons? you dont even have to make another character for it. i mean this game would be perfect for having jobs for all kind of playstyles

    DRG is fine and doesn't need any changes. It's perfect. The concerns people have are that it will be the opposite of perfect after the changes, because that happened to some other jobs.

    I don't mind the Summoner changes. Most people I have talked to think it is a real summoner now and enjoy it, regardless of how simple it is regarded.

    The removal of Kaiten just leaves us to mash the same button too frequently though. The monk changes look good but I still haven't wrapped my head around them and everyone I have talked to about them has said the same thing. Monk was never that popular of a job and the changes have pushed away some of the people who actually knew how to play it.

    People seem to miss why they said they need to change DRG

    This game is supposed to last ten more years give or take, what can they feasibly do with DRG in the next expansion that won’t completely mess up a current system it has, merging litany and sight and giving stardiver some more potency won’t be enough for even one more expansion let alone 3 to 4, I don’t think anyone wants to give DRG the SMN treatment but it also shouldn’t fall into the RDM trap where every expansion basically amounts to “new potencies and another finisher on top of your other 4 finishers”

    As for AST the only reason I have ever heard to keep AST as it is is that it’s more complex than the other healers even if it’s clunky as hell, it needs to be redesigned

    AST apm is perfectly fine in my opinion, it's actually the same as in ShB and as mentioned there's nothing wrong with some jobs having a busier playstyle.

    AST's main issue is too many buttons being filler or worthless. Redraw is a fraction of a percent dps utilized correctly. Similarly Astrodyne is a glorified Lucid Dream and the 2 and 3 seal buffs are again a fraction of a percent. MA is basically a single free aoe Malefic every 2 minutes. Also the APM has been funneled into the 2 minute burst window now, so you break your fingers every 120 sec with long stretches of not doing much in between and Lightspeed is held hostage by this burst window.

    If they can address all those it'll be a big improvement, but lowering overall APM isn't really necessary.
