https://youtu.be/V300FlcyVnc?list=FL...xmvkeOqTpl_bdwMay I ask why? The dungeons are not exactly hard, and are designed, post HW, to be doable by pulling 2 groups of mobs at a time. There's no reason a healer should be struggling to keep you alive, and you have your mitigations to help stay alive.
I'd also like to know why you always ignore me and others who ask you to pull more. I always politely suggest you pull more than one mob, but never once has such a tank ever responded and just keeps pulling one mob at a time. It's not just a few instances, it's EVERY instance of a tank who only pulls one mob. You guys never respond and just keep one-mob pulling.
There is absolutely zero reason to pull one group at a time. It's extremely boring, takes away what slight challenge I may have had as the healer (forcing me to just dps basically because one mob isn't enough to really require healing generally), it's slow, makes the dungeon take twice as long. Why do you insist on tanking this way?
- To me a good tank should be able to gauge the healers ability with the first one or two pulls. I like it better when the tank sets the pace. A good tank will ask if anyone is new to a dungeon. A good tank knows the skills they have to work with and how to use them.
- A good healer should be in partner with the tank, and know there is many varying playstyles. A healer could ask the party if the party is okay with bigger pulls. A good healer never jump the gun and pulls for the tank.
- A good group is one that has respect when a tank or anyone of the party is new and learning. If someone says they are uncomfortable with a huge pulls, then "all" in the party should respect that. Usually it would be a good idea to let the party know up front, that you are new to the dungeon. Don't queue up if you know real life is likely to get in the way for more than 5 minutes. Lastly you should use the facility "before" you queue.
This, to me, is what makes up a good group overall, not just a tank.
I do this a few times because I dont tank very often. Like...honestly a large handful of times per expansion.
So when the next expansion hits, and Im on my Road to Max Level Kick where Im leveling every job...I have to readjust my Hotbar for missing or changed skills.
And frankly I gotta rewire my brain to get used to my rotation and learning to use y CDs at the proper times.
Also there are cases like Warrior and its Self Sustain skills, they are abit different then playing Paladin or Gunbreaker.
For most other people this is probably a no-brainer. For me I gotta reconfigure. So I pull small as I get my brain back into Tanking and relearning the Jobs.
But this is just me.
These days the only time I see single trash pull tank is in sub lvl50 with sprout. So I don't really mind it. Half of DPS classes and healers don't have any AOE sub 40s anyway, so it's not like it makes much of a difference.
But yeah, wouldn't you want to know who the newbie is in advance. Do you just wait until your healer if forever raising the dead person over and over saying "Let me guess, your the one or more new person duty message mentioned." I say better to admit it up front at the start to prepare everyone. Love the meme!

There are instances when a person plays multiple jobs (like me) and sometimes requires a couple of dungeons to re-adjust to tanking, in these cases i prefer to pull smaller mobs. But all these 'problems' people have with dungeons can be solved by one simple thing: communication. All you can do is ask the party what they might prefer, and if the Tank doesn't respond, or disagrees, then you just go with the flow and wait it out.. it's what? 10 minutes of your life. Just because you have control issues it shouldn't upset the rest of the group.
You also have the DPS and Healer to be concerned about, you have 4 people in a dungeon, and you have no idea of knowing their circumstances, how new they are to their job (or the game in general) their skill level, whether they're playing on controller for the first time cause their PC broke, and 1000 other different things that could be going on.
I made a mistake when queuing for the Gubal Library (my first time through it) as I've never played SCH, but am leveling SMN, and I accidentally queued as SCH cause I was switching to it to check the gear and got distracted. So I briefly panicked, mentioned that it was my first time in the dungeon and as SCH, Tank asked me 'do you want small pulls?' I said yes please. We had no problems. And he explained the boss mechanics as we hit them, just talk to your party people, it makes for a better experience, the silent treatment is fine if everything goes perfect, but don't just assume everyone knows what they're doing right off the bat.
Not going to lie, I am certainly scratching my head. I assume you mean Dead Ends? The trash pulls before the last two bosses can look a little overwhelming, but they're really not that bad at all.
Owning the mistake is right way to go though, in the case of the Bardam's wipe I mentioned, it was my first dungeon run in the morning, I was evidently still half asleep and the icing on the cake was that I actually shadowplayed it for some reason, it still haunts me to this day as of course, it highlights everything I could have done better to avoid the wipe
In response to your question, I'll respond with another question =( Did your tank actually know that you were struggling to keep up? Did you mention anything? Whenever I've seen something like this crop up, if no one says anything, people get annoyed about it, but on the rare occasion where someone pipes up with 'hey I'm new, please go easy etc' I've never seen the rest of the group take issue with it.
Oh and for the stack markers, get into the habit of benison+aquaveiling yourself if you get it. Aglaia is just as bad for people ignoring them and that combo is frequently enough to scrape you through it avoiding a lame death.

Honestly, with the latest surge of sprouts, tanks are super bad in general.From what I've seen in roulettes the last week/s, tanks keep the bosses facing the group and then enver keep them still, from merry go around to even taking them to some remote corner for no reason, don't even bother with mitigation, and in alliance do the aggro ping-pong. Single pulls are the least bad of these to be honest, the situation is so bad that I wondered if there's another game people are coming from whre these things are how you tank. Most of them also seem to refuse to listen to advice.
But back to single pulls, every time it happens my soul gets out of my body. Dungeons taking twice as long for no reason is really hard to bear. Single pulls don't even need a tank, a dps with a healer can do them, what's the point of having a tank in group if all they do is what even a dps can do? If you put it on personal preference, then the personal preference could also be the dps using only half of the buttons or single target instead of aoe, or the healer being a cure-bot or a green dps who refuses to heal.
Learning is fine, we've all been there, but by HW dungeons you should have learned enough to be able to hold your weight.
And honestly, single pulls are actually worse for everybody even regardless of speed. A single pack takes as long to die as two packs together, since at that point everybody has AoE, but the tank mitigations and the heals you could have used all on one pull, you have to spread across double the pulls, so you're actually way more likely to run out of stuff and die. Just like when you're more likely to run out of stuff and die when the dps is too low and packs take forever. At some point it's basically not doing your job and griefing.
Personal preference and not being comfortable apply to dungeons like Bardam or even Doma where things hit like a truck so better pull small, or dungeons like Mt Gulg or Anyder where you can pull several packs at once and not all tanks/healers are fine with it, but not the normal double pull that basically the game sets you up for.
