I was there. It was my first time to any club in the game.
Regardless of what stance you took with them advertising. One thing is for certain, it did what it was meant to do, right or wrong. It brought in the crowd.
I traveled from Aether to Crystal. Traveling to Blamung was shut down, so I went to Mateus and world traveled from there, which took me a good 40 minutes to get into Balmung. And 3 tries to zone into Mist and then the ward after that.
I estimate the majority were either wanderers or travelers, but a lot of locals too. All in all it was fun and I personally had fun with it. Would I go back? Probably not. I just wanted to experience what will be remembered for a long time to tell you the truth.
at least this showed that even if people are trying to dog pile on one server, logging in isn't affected much. i logged out multiple times and my queue was at most 35 people. im glad people enjoyed the event though!
Just goes to show there's no such thing as bad PR.
As in visiting from other DCs? I'd wager about a quarter or so, but it was extremely hard to tell because load distance was shot and it was like being in a virtual mosh pit most of the time. Travelers + Wanderers made up no less than half of the crowd, probably even higher.
Wanderers would be expected, there's been a lot of world visit going on for the various nightclubs on the data center for the past 2 years. As in visiting from other DCs? I was more interested in the Travelers because it shows how effective the publicity stunt was. I doubt that there would have been many non-Crystal players attending otherwise.
Of course there is, but having weird Karens screeching isn't bad publicity in my book.
Seeing these peoples getting upset and self-righteous about it actually made me interested in the event (didn't went though since i already planned to go to the rejoining).
I heard the event was an overwhelming success. Most of the important influences were there and despite people trolling, most people had fun and made friends. People were asking Rain to host another event by its end.
From what I noticed it was about 50/50 on visitors and natives to the server. I made a point to camp out there the night before cause I knew there would be issues loading in for people who did not. I loaded in in about 2 minutes while others took about an hour. For those who were there, I'm curious. About what percentage of the crowd was Travelers?
For those who play on Balmung, what was the impact of the event outside of the event area? I avoided Balmung last night but had no problem with world visit to other Crystal worlds (same as Tuesday when the "Balmung blockade" was going on). Seems like the impact of travel load is mostly localized to the world instead of the data center.
It was a lot of fun though. Here's a short list of some notable things that happened...
1. I hung out with a corpse for a bit who was floating in the ocean. I think it was corpse...or maybe Blitzball confirmed?
2. Catgirl warned others to not mate with catgirls until they are dewormed. She then proceeded to open trade and gave me a Plump Worm.
3. Konga Lines for days.
4. They had dance lines for every race. ( Of course I was near the Au Ra line cause those women get the blood flowing )
5. Dance parties in every direction...if you can even call it a dance party if everyone is doing Bees Knees. I wanted to Walk the Dinosaur but that is not an option so Manderville Mambo it is.
6. Loads of groups of people to just talk with.
When you deal with human beings, never count on logic or consistency.
Fluid like water. Smooth like silk. Pepperoni like pizza.
