Welcome to hitting the ground running. Get used to it.In Eastern societies like Japan, people do not want to disappoint their teammates. Therefore, they spend the time doing research, making sure that they know their rotations and the mechanics, and enter an alliance raid knowing the mechanics.
Unfortunately, it seems that many players in NA and EU do not care about other people’s time. The common sentiment is that:
This is you putting your own enjoyment over 7 other people’s enjoyment. It is what an individualistic and selfish culture promotes. Unfortunately, this will never change because it’s engrained in Western culture.
Unless your joining a party finder group that specifically says says please read or watch a guide. the answer is NO! to every piece of content in the game regardless of how new or old it is.
if you see a savage learnig party and it doesnt ask you to watch a guide then your not being disrespectful if you dont watch one. as long as you read the description..
if the description says x mechaninc clean up and clear.. and you havent got that far and join then you are being disrespectful for joining. same way youd be disrectful for joining a farm party if you struggle to stay alive for a full run.

Personally unless I am playing with friends, I will always watch a guide if available and will skip cutscenes when applicable. My perspective is FFXIV is a team game, and I should respect the time of my party members by being prepared.
If you need a guide to do the 24 mans... bro. All of the tells are straightforward and pretty obvious.
Not just disrespectful, but DISHONORABLE! DISHONOR! DISHONOR ON YOU! DISHONOR ON YOUR COW!
Duh, should try listen to yourself talking lol.
Where’s Titanmen?
I was baffled to see how Blizzard uploaded the end cinematics to Shadowlands on Youtube lol.
Same with how they intentionally leak stuff and basically don't do anything about datamining, it just significantly detracts from the content imo.
Something I rly love about FFXIV is that we don't have that, so when I experience something ingame I experience it for the first time.
