Your lame argument about the janitor who hates his life and his job so much that he would punch someone in the face for thanking them is just that: a stupid stereotype. It's like the guy who told his wife on the night they go out to dinner "you look great tonight" and she responds angrily "are you saying i don't look great otherwise?".

You attempt to make it seem that Janitors naturally loath their jobs and hate anyone and everyone who dares compliment them, but I doubt you have known a fraction of the janitors in the world yet you are content making gross generalizations on their behalf.

And so what if you work in construction? Are you attempting to be witty with your comment about helping out your pocketbook? I get it, you need money to live, but who doesn't? Every one in this god forsaken world needs money just as much as you do, but that doesn't give you the right to reject someones verbal acknowledgement of you.

Maybe next time your wife or girlfriend thanks you for doing something you should tell her that she could thank you by doing it herself next time, and see how far that gets you in life, JOE.
I thank anyone regardless but comparing being a waitress to this? How are we meant to tip the developers? When they come to give us the bill? Also I doubt waitresses are getting paid as much as SE dev employees and usually they get tips because the wages themselves are terrible.

your "tip" to the developers is your thank you and belief in them by paying a monthly sub. they have already stated if you are not happy with the game don't pay. paying is showing them your thanks for the job they have done and are continuing to do.

First off all it's a metaphor.

Second of all the tip to SE's producers is meant to be in the case of a thank you note "you did a good job on this patch" as much as a suggestion "could you implement or fix this"

Third, the waitresses in other parts of the world are treated better than they are in America
