It is worth it. Back when it was first added they said they would be able to use the money for adding things like more housing.
Oh wait. They are lieing sacks of shit whoever said that.
What!? It was Yoshi P who said that?

Sadly, it seems like that money is getting taken out of 14 to fund absolute rock star banger hits like Babylon's Fall, in an attempt to make another multiplayer success instead of... y'know, focusing fully on improving the one they've got.
A cash shop in a game where we not only pay a monthly subscription, but also have to purchase the full priced game (plus expansions) is garbage, period. I don't care if "it's just cosmetics!! it doesn't affect gameplay! stop being poor!". But as long as people keep buying, and they do, a lot, it'll keep existing.
Cash shop is bad. People buying into this crap is the reason it exists. Just say no!
For a subscription MMO, the cash store is both expensive and too large. The only saving grace is the lack of direct integration into the game client that the majority of other MMOs, including WoW which always got a lot of criticism for it's store, have. If/when Square ever add the store into the game directly, people will very quickly change the mostly positive opinion people have of the store.
I cannot believe someone brought SWTOR in to this as a "good" example. If they "copied" SWTORs systems with which once you buy an outfit you can once inside your collections pane in game pay a little bit more to unlock it for the entire account I think a lot more people would be willing to buy ff14 store items for sure.
It would have to be a pay once deal with FF14 as they dont primarily have a cash to mmo currency system like SWTOR has with which you buy "coins" in SWTOR , as their crysta system is an outdated alternate system.
Eg: IN SWTOR a new XYZ named Armour appears in the Cartel Market It costs 2400 Cartel coins , so either you buy in game using their market window ,the amount of cartel coins needed or rather add to your coins balance (you do get some free each month as subbed plus a bonus with a account security key) or you buy via steam store ( vbad btw dont do it if u play swtor) or direct from their main website in your account.
Then in your collections once you have worn each piece of the set its added to your collections for that character , inside the armour section in your collections there is an option to pay 200-600 depending on the "tier" of armour skin you bought to unlock it for your account
I guess SQE could make it so you need to buy their Crysta gems as a way to unlock for the account but that would be annoying as you need to buy the store items with credit/debit card then use the same payment method to buy an additional crysta which would be silly .
If they had a account collection system in place so that all cash shop outfits, emotes, toys and mounts were account wide i think the "is it expensive" question would be harder to answer . It is a little as it stands now on most items
sure, it has that system, sure its "okay"
but SWTOR also recycles the collections you pay for, but OH, look, this time the button is green instead of blue. the shoulder plate is black instead of camo.. these are considered "different" items for your collection, and if I recall, there are "bonuses" for a complete collection set. to get the bonus of course, you have to complete the entire thing, so they suck more money out of you, especially if you are into being a completionist. lets say the base set costs 2400, so around $20 real money. thats the cost of pretty much ever set. then the weapons, well, a lot of those are loot boxes if I remember.
sure, the sharing is nice, but it is an in your face cash grab unless they changed it from when I played. and I somehow doubt they have.
Doubtful. A couple people will be mad about it, maybe make a couple forum threads, but people will largely praise SE for making it more 'accessible' most likely, and more people may even purchase items. For a subscription MMO, the cash store is both expensive and too large. You guys have to get lost of this 2007 one time buy and 13 euro monthly sub model, that is over, now you have to be happy that the shop JUST includes this, particularly in a MMO.
also after buying the outfit in swtor u need to pay again to unlock it account wide it is ofc not the same price but still so u pay like $20 for the outfit then have to pay 2 to10$ to unlock it (the price depands on the gear its from 50 CC to 800 CC)I cannot believe someone brought SWTOR in to this as a "good" example.

The seas continue to rise while the lesser moon continues to fall, and ilm by ilm, the world becomes ever more unlike itself, without the illumination of knowledge, we but vainly flail as specters in the dark.
