-shrug- If you're gonna hold SE to their word at least know exactly what they said. No goalpost was shifted. All the info was presented. Some choose to ignore facts because it gets in the way of a good rant.

You know a company doesn't get to be known as the EA of japan by accident.
They should hire more people to work those extra 1-2 weeks?
You don't just simply hire more people, in some cases hiring more people can just make things more complicated.
There's definitely such a thing as too many hands in a kitchen.

They want to treat their staff properly and as a result we have to deal with 1-2 extra weeks.
This is like how people are unwilling to pay a few extra cents at restaurants so that people can make a decent living, treating people like human beings actually does come with some side-effects too.

There's no real evidence that FFXIV is suffering because of 17, we're getting A LOT of content and we got multiple reworks last patch plus they've already laid out what's to come in the future which entails even more overhauls and reworks including a graphical overhaul which is an enormous investement of time and resources.
This whole thing about '' siphoned talent and stretching people over two games '' is just speculation, you have no clue what role they had or how extensive it actually was.

It's the same when people come up with conspiracy theories because part of the profits of FFXIV went into 17 when that's just how things work.
Basically all publishers and studios does that, not all resources made by WoW gets invested back into WoW either it gets invested elsewhere and Blizzard also has devs that overlap between projects too this is just normal depending on position.
Not all devs are always going to have the same workload in their '' main project '' so to speak, instead of having them do nothing you can put them to work on another project for the time being.
The art department is usually a good example of this, they have very high workloads that happen during specific phases of development and then it slows down.

    Edit:

The devs say that the two extra weeks are for “implementation” and “fine-tuning”, and you can expect another week’s time added during summer and New Year’s holidays, too.

Thank you, I remembered this but couldn't find it.
Having a healthy work environment is important and people will do their job better when they're happy.

is this thread because they are pushing back Savage Modes by 2 weeks from normal mode release?

Also, gunna add this here because I don't know what to think of it.
Has anyone had someone in Prae ever drop out of the cutscene and early start a boss before?

No. Savage is a one week delay. They actually tried it out with the first round of Pandaemonium.

I honestly can't remember the last time WoW got two patches in a year, and they were vilified for far more reasons than just that *gestures at WoD, BFA, and SL*. And if we're comparing current state of patches... Shadowlands released 11/23/20, Patch 9.1 was released 6/29/21, and Patch 9.2 was released 2/22/22. That's 7 months between launch and the first major content patch, and then another 8 months before the second major content patch. We've got a bit to go before SE sinks that low. Now it would be lovely if SE hired more Devs, but their requirements are fairly high and it doesn't seem like they want to reduce them. So, until such a time that they can better expand the team I am fine with an extra 1-2 weeks to get the patch out. Now if we start going to 5 and then 6 months, then yes something needs to be addressed.

Didn't catch the newsletter. Am I correct in assuming from this discussion that there wasn't a ton of new information offered?

having come from wow myself a couple years back, the absolute entitlement of some people in this community astonishes me. Y'all really dont understand how good you have it with SE. boo hoo 2 more weeks, you'd think there was a new calamity with how much they are complaining.
