Hildibrand for relic? Really?

It's a nothing burger because Hydaelyn literally hands you the McGuffin needed to bring them back immediately before that point, removing any possible tension.

Yet without the sacrifices we wouldn't be able to progress. So it isn't a nothing burger. And that "mcguffin" literally was just an enhanced version of what we already did with our stone. Call people. Again she just give it a function to restore bodies which are just aether anyways. Not far fetched at all especially considering the fact she knows creation magics. Emet created a whole damn city and that was ok with folks xD

ANYWAYS this has turned into yet another "EW is bad" thread unfortunately. I'm just hoping the relics quests are fun. Not a big Hildi fan myself but certainly don't hate him. Should be interesting to see what they have it store for us.

Far as others, if you don't like it don't do it. That solution is fairly simple. Not every piece of content in the game is going to be liked by everyone. Same for everything else in the game

I'm hyped... I bet Manderville weapons might have fun designs.

I just never thought they would tie Hidly quests to any other kind of content, given how comic relief they are, but hey... There are already a lot of dense storylines going on anyway.

Overall I would say EW is a massive disappointment on several fronts and this just adds to a pile for a lot of people.

I would say the issue is with sweeping statements like this that have no meshing with reality. There's a very vocal, but ultimately absurdly small cabal of posters on this forum who are negative about everything, no matter what. But they're far and away the exception. Go practically anywhere else, in-game, heck even Reddit - usually a cesspool of negativity - is overwhelmingly positive about FFXIV and EW in particular. For the sweeping majority of the playerbase, EW is a massive success and has been very enjoyable. That doesn't mean everyone has to like it; any individual can have a different opinion. But to act as if that minority opinion is the norm when it isn't just breeds frustration for everyone.

Tbh I'm just going to skip cutscenes and that's that. Sure Hildy is fun, but not my type of fun. All I want is for Godbert to bless my weapon, and maybe have some legendary version of the Manderville GS's weapons.

Do I feel disappointed about the Relic being Manderville? A bit yeah, not a deal breaker by any means though. Just different expectations for different folk. Still hopping for a nice Zone like Bozja, if only for faster levelling and memes.

if the quests are good, the grind isnt a complete no-life and the weapon designs are decent then ill be happy.

Having a bit to chew on it honestly I think it sounds fun! After the kettle quest it’s not really that much sillier and you can get through it pretty quick if you’re not interested and just skip.

I made a Barista glamour with those kettles. xD Pretty sure after we do the whole relic quest, we'll get something similar but with Godbert making the special gag weapon reward even better. xD

As much as I love the Señor Sabotender weapons (and being eager for the remaining ones), I would hate if EW Relic 1st stage turned out to be recycled models with a new SFX added on top...

It's a bit hard to guess how the Manderville weapons are going to be, but if I could guess... Maybe Film Noir inspired items? The aesthetic seems to be what Hildy's quests have hints of inspiration.

My biggest ??? however is if they are going to theme ALL of the Relic stages after that, which is kind of odd since Hildy quests are solely story based with a boss Trial. I would guess the Gerolt + Godbert partnership would branch off into something different for future stages.

But then, who knows? We might get a Manderville themed exploratory zone to back up all of that! LOL.

I don’t even think Ivalice is as time consuming, and at least acts as a skill check on the playerbase.

Just why?

I am so very happy about this, I hated the Bozjan Story with a passion, I hate Ivalice with an even greater passion, 12 is my least favorite game. Finally we can do a story some of us love, I might have to do this on all my alts, because I love Hildibrand that much.

Because not everything has to be serious in this game. Have a little fun with it while not busting a vein trying to finish Ultimate.

Dragon Age has the banana on a stick weapon with a cheese wheel shield, Shadow Hearts has a skyscraper for a bludgeon weapon, AC Valhalla has a swordfish sword. Games are silly.
