Ahhhhh..... this is probably one of my favourite things from the live letter. Both seeing people cry about being "forced" to do side content, and just knowing some of my favourite content in the game are coming together (Hildibrand and Relics.)
I'll be the first to say some of the HW and Eureka relic weapons we're huge pains in the asses. I for one am glad to see them doing something new with the relics (Obviously we don't know much, but it seems a little different this time around.)
I still expect grinding in later steps, yeah, but *sinking tons of hours into steps like the fate grinding in Heavensward with nothing else BUT that was kind of.... how do I put it..... boring. I don't mind the grind if it's got some flavour in it.
I really am curious why people think they are "forced" to do any content. Nobody is forcing you to watch cutscenes, to even do this content. Yes, Relics are fun, but if you're going to whine the entire time about the process to get it, what's the point? It'll be bis, maybe for a few months before crafted/raid gear overtakes it again.
It's to be expected imo that people won't like it, as is their right, but this is still a video game...... You get to choose what content you interact with.
And hell, I'm gonna be enjoying 6.2 a LOT.

How's Hildibrand something new though?
one of the complaints I see is exactly having to do stuff from 10 years ago so uh. I guess the new thing is tying relics to it, but then relics are known to be tied to old content to revitalize it.
i really don't get peoples fixation with wanting main characters to die... i get it, it would be "shocking", and yes there was a time with a lot more death on the good guys side than what we have now, but is it really so important to kill of part of the main cast ? lord of the rings doesn't kill of any main cast after halfway into the first book and even has gandalf "die" and come back even more powerfull than before and it's still considered one of the greatest fantasy epics of all time. Or for anime/manga fans take one piece which had 2 non flashback deaths for the first 1000 or so chapters. why on earth are people so obsessed with main character deaths as if this is the absolutely only way to get a compelling story ?

People who watched too much game of thrones and thought that was good probably.i really don't get peoples fixation with wanting main characters to die... i get it, it would be "shocking", and yes there was a time with a lot more death on the good guys side than what we have now, but is it really so important to kill of part of the main cast ? lord of the rings doesn't kill of any main cast after halfway into the first book and even has gandalf "die" and come back even more powerfull than before and it's still considered one of the greatest fantasy epics of all time. I think, if we're talking about ShB, that's it not so much about wanting anyone to die, but how much the scions kept "flirting" with death while not actually dying. So many situations would have been certain death for anyone else, but they have such a strong plot armor and are basically mary sues at this point. Y'shtola and Thancred more than the rest, honestly. It's hard to take a character seriously under those circumstances. And at this point we know that whatever they go through they will never ever really die, so it kills any sort of tension. Even EW with its "all my friends sacrificed themselves""just bring them back". We just know that nothing bad will ever happen to them, no matter what they go through. Which I guess for many it can be a relief, but for others makes them less believable.

me and my friends make a bet every new expansion: in how many quests will Yshtola "die"? How many times will a Scion be kidnapped?
I advise you to do this, it's a lot of fun

Game of thrones has irreversably damaged people in that regard. That and a weird fixation on grimdark themes, not understanding that grimdark in its most serious fashion fundamentally does not work and only makes for trash stories.i really don't get peoples fixation with wanting main characters to die... i get it, it would be "shocking", and yes there was a time with a lot more death on the good guys side than what we have now, but is it really so important to kill of part of the main cast ? lord of the rings doesn't kill of any main cast after halfway into the first book and even has gandalf "die" and come back even more powerfull than before and it's still considered one of the greatest fantasy epics of all time.
