As much of an issue I have with the work being done in FF, I do believe they are working on good faith. That is, given the situation, this is what they believe is best.

I can't wait for the reasoning behind job changes, though, since we can have more directed criticism, and it helps people decide clearly what they like and dislike about the direction of things.

I doubt they are working in good faith. I think they are deciding what is best and not taking player's views into consideration, and you see this at different levels in SE. From shutting the servers on the Fourth to doubling down on blockchain when the players really don't want that. It's a theme in SE

Said Blockchain is not in FFXIV, and they shut down the servers on July 4th for scheduled Maintenance.

Such is the risk that is run when relying on fan translations for player live letters, I suppose. Not that people wouldn't read into things what they wished anyway, but official translations would go some way to, well, get across little nuances like a facetious or lighthearted tone, especially if the translators had a "loose script" to go over before the event.

I mean, sure. But the glamour system design has been a sore point for the community for literal years now. To joke about never fixing it is a bit on the nose.

I'm not impressed with more space. They keep saying they can't overhaul the glamour system, they can't move the dresser blah blah blah server strain but here is a private island with a whole new inventory system for every single player.

I think they're running out of excuses at this point.

They've added the checkmarks on minions and mounts so you can see what you've acquired, they have the orchestion logs that show what you can play when you've acquired the song, they even have this new dream dressing room. It's like, all the elements are there! Just put it together!

I don't think it was meant to be disrespectful to player desires, if it was then that's sad- but I don't think that was the intention.

That's the thing. Remember when they unveiled the Hrothgar hairstyles and people didn't like that they were laughing while showing us Karen Hrothgar or 2Peanut?

You don't need to mean anything with malice for people to still perceive it as something you just shouldn't say. That's why PR and such departments exist. So you don't say something insensitive and untoward, even if all you want is to make fun of the situation. Because as Lyth says...

PR and revisions, as well as care with what you say overall, are important for a reason. Because one thing is just a mild joke that everyone can agree with. Another thing is a joke that not many people will laugh at. And another is taking a jab at the community that can be taken as being passive-aggressive.

And also history is a bit required to put some statements into perspective here. And given he's already had a strike before with the Hrothgar hairstyles, some people aren't in for a joking mood. At least not jokes like those. You don't have to agree with anyone's humour, you just need to respect it.

...though, wasn't there this one time in early Stormblood where Yoshida said the lines about "Ok, here, have this Red Mage minion, stop bothering me about Blue Mage" when people shouted at Yoshida for wanting Blue Mage implemented after he said no?
