It means, you foolish foolish Miqote, that it would make sense for joke weapons to be attached to a joke questline. Because we both know you'd be screaming off the top of your lungs if they were attached to something serious.
I don't expect them to be joke weapons they'll be relics and the grind associated with them will probably be standard fare. People complained about Eureka and Bozja so we're getting something new. I think it's a good idea to wait to hear more before writing them off as joke weapons. I suspect we'll be getting the same complaints at some point that the quest line is too grindy but I might be wrong.
If it's farming old content I'll probably just do relic on my main and skip it on my alts. This is coming from someone with 12 Cerebus mounts.

Would I? Would I really?
Nah i dont think i would, I think Id look at it, consider it, then decide whether or not to do it now, later, or never and then move on. Did a tiny bit of Bozja and then said nah never mind, did some of the old ARR relic quests, and didnt worry with the rest.
I do what suits me. Plenty to do elsewhere, I stopped having stress over video game stuff, the same time I let go of a lot of other things that i realised mattered very little..or not at all...in the long term.
Some people take this game far, far too seriously.

RyuDragnier is the more neutral voice in this thread so far and you're putting on an antagonistic tone even for them, lol. Looking for fights?
I'm not going to scream on top of my lungs over the decision, because TBH I don't plan on touching Relic Weapons for a long while anyway. I do find it odd honestly. I don't mind the existence of Hildibrand. It didn't look like it's for me, so I didn't do it. Easy peasy. I guess there is some precedent for jokey quests being connected to Relic Weapons as I was told earlier in the thread... but this is uh, a bit much, no? If it's supposed to be light-hearted, why connect a legendary powerful weapon to it? People already didn't enjoy sitting through Ivalice content to reach Bozja when they didn't play in Stormblood - starting from ARR questlines is way more than that. IDK. If you like the quest chain, really, no problem. Even if I could bear the humour I hate unvoiced yet important cutscenes... looking at you, Ivalice. Seeing people clown and dance about while there's literally no sound coming from their mouth? Seems too awkward to me.
Mortal Fist
I'm also a bit worried the weapons themsevles will be outright jokes and relics do not seem like a great place for that...we'll see just seems to have been a poorly done revel to meRyuDragnier is the more neutral voice in this thread so far and you're putting on an antagonistic tone even for them, lol. The way relics usually go is they're part of some questline, but then they have you do a bunch of random odds and ends to get parts for it. Run raids, dungeons, FATEs, etc etc until you have enough of the part, then hand it in and the weapon is created. It being attached to Hildibrand likely won't mess with the formula, but you can expect to see some funny designs and possibly a goofy cutscene when they make it.I'm not going to scream on top of my lungs over the decision, because TBH I don't plan on touching Relic Weapons for a long while anyway. I loved the relic zones so we'll see how this goes. Doesn't sound like we're getting any and I think that was actually stated by the team although I don't have a link. They haven't expanded on it yet and hopefully we'll learn a lot more with the next live letter. The way relics usually go is they're part of some questline, but then they have you do a bunch of random odds and ends to get parts for it.
