I agree with the idea of some forgiveness with losing party members for a moment.

I barely see people using DPS LB anywhere since you can easily win without it, only taking an extra minute at worst, so they might as well remove it from the duties (except maybe the healer one from anything above trials). Also, forcing LB use just to avoid certain death is as terrible a mechanic as all one-shot mechanics, and a lazy AF way to allow, or in this case force, tanks to use it.
Now, giving a solo LB to use while out in the wilds would be nice, as long as they change it so it's useful on all jobs. They could just forget the rising levels and make the single level it has look like the level 3 LB for cool points or whatever. Not like it would matter that much to get a FATE done a little faster, but like always, it would be ruined and removed because of people grouping up an exploiting the crap out of it, as they always do. Hence, since their unwilling/unable to put the though and effort into making it work naturally, just get rid of it.

Get rid of the reset or downgrade if someone is disconnected, keep the current system and add a personnal lb.


I would just say throw the baby out with the bathwater and just scrap party LBs and just give a personal LB to everyone. Cut back on the flash and damage and call it a day. Sure, it's boring, but it's fair! :^)




That's right. They kill the spiny plume with their aoe, resulting in a wipe, but you can tank LB3 instead.
It might not have aged well in a time where we have Reprisal, a stat squish and a lot of changes to our stats, but I've got parties through with it multiple times.
In other news, there is no technical debt from 1.0.

If you want your personal LB, go do PvP. That's where it should stay. Having it outside for solo action makes little sense.




I would argue that ranged LBs are more useful in dungeons with how we kill bosses before LB2, it's just that ranged DPS save it for the melee DPS who don't use it because we don't reach LB2 against bosses. If we do reach LB2 it's when the boss is about to die and they don't want to interrupt the flow of their rotation either.
Ranged LB has been useful in some raids such as A10S, E4S, SOS and others but it could probably see more use. I think creating situations where you don't have to use ranged or tank LBs but where they could be used is the right way to go. Byakko, Garuda and the other examples I used are some examples of how to create situations where they are desirable but not required.

Personal LBs would give Limit Breaks more purpose beyond "Healer uses LB3 to save the raid or die trying," or "Tank uses it or wipe cuz lul" or "DPS uses it as a glorified kill move because it literally doesn't exist for anything else at that point."

With the direction PvP has gone, it makes sense. The style of game it's based on has people using a few regular abilities and firing off a difference maker every once in a while. You don't need to wield that kind of power in PvE content. As it is, LB is barely needed at all.
If LB should be added to anything, it would be great to have the PvP LB accessible in explorer mode.
