Scholar is probably one of the most broken jobs in Frontlines if you stack your team full of them, once a few Scholars start building battle high your DoT damage scales ridiculously and can wipe out entire parties in a few ticks and there's nothing the enemy can do to remove Biolysis and Miasmalytic (nice job reusing that icon while not giving it back in PvE, Square ). It's also very good in CC because Adlo also has a 10% damage buff attached to it, so to perform effectively as Scholar you actually DO need to be shielding your best DPS players constantly instead of just focused on being purely green DPS. What I really like about SCH in CC is that it manages to provide interesting choices on what will suit your team better in the moment with Expedient/Recitation and Deployment Tactics having charges, you can really prevent pushes with a Recitation Spreadlo but you can also be greedy and really help pushes with a Recitation Deploy-Bio providing a huge amount of pressure on the enemy team's HP if well executed.

Scholar probably has the weakest kit of the four healers in CC, but that doesn't make it any less enjoyable. PvP shows that they still can come up with unique and interesting ways to make these kits really fun with a low amount of buttons, and while these kits obviously can't be 1:1 copy and pasted between each game type, there are things they can experiment with such as Bane-Deployment Tactics or PvP Seraph having Selene's old AoE Esuna - things that show they can retain parts of a job's kit and playstyle while also coming up with new and unique ways to save on buttons. Heck, even just having your DoT on a 15s timer instead of a 30s one is more enjoyable. I would really like if they take some of the design philosophy from PvP and look how it could potentially be applied in PvE.

Especially if THEIR Purify/Guard happens to actually WORK (which is totally hit and miss in PvP right now) and completely negate the Stun anyway.

No role being required is fine. But healers are not healers in PvP, no matter how much spin you want to put on it.

As to your discussion about coordination, I guess this largely depends on what content you play. Savages require coordination. And people who don't have Statics (and there are a lot of us) don't necessarily have reliable voice comms and communication, so we need tools that are plug and play. The game's mechanics are too fast paced for most people to type out strategies and converse in combat with chat boxes like you could do in, say, EverQuest. And many players already accuse FFXIV's gameplay of being slow and "boring" as it is, so that would never go over well. That's why "Teamwork" doesn't exist there.

...but having played a ton of Frontlines - enough to get my rare horse mount, and I don't mean the Garo ones - there is VERY rarely "teamwork" and "coordination" in FFXIV's PvP. "coordination or strategy" don't exist outside of sometimes one person calling things and maybe 30% of the party actually listening.

I do love Expedience, though. Nice to see a kind of more out of the box solution to more support focus, even if slight, that isn't just a damage buff.

And it's funny you hyp up healers in PvP over PvE...except in the ONE way they're more or less the same: PvP healers still largely have 2 button DPS "rotations". Indeed, WHM has no DoT, so when Misery and Seraph Strike are on CD, it's literally JUST Glare spam with no option. At least in PvE, you have the options of using a Lily heal for a future Misery or using Dia as a slight damage increase if you have literally nothing else to hit other than Glare and have to move. PvP has JUST Glare.

So the one thing you say "needs to go" is the one thing that PvP is arguably worse about than PvE...
It isn't "spin" if you won't use your skills - no I don' t mean using Seraph on 5 Bahamuts, but your LB will pick off a SMN and heal and it builds quickly. Miracle a priority target that is one of your main objectives as a WHM and it is up again quickly. Seraph when you can - but no, you call that a "suicide mission'

I see you're still going around accusing people of not being "real healers" while pretending like you're not namecalling. Standard Sylphie Tactic every time. *eyeroll*

HeALeRs sHoULd HeAL onLy, if you don't think spamming boring buttons over and over and over again is fun you're not a REAL HEALER!

Yawn. It's been boring every time other Sylphies have claimed it, and it's still boring here.

Planning your healing in high-end content is already rewarding and gratifying (not perfect, it is a bit too easy atm thanks to the power of your oGCDs), the problem is that your reward is pressing broil or w/e even more than you already did (90+% of the time). Ergo, what needs to be made more varied and interesting is the DPS suite a healer has access to. I don't know why some people are so determined to argue around the point.

Because everyone who wants engagement during downtime through a more varied dps rotation is not a true healer and should just play DPS.

How about we formulate a simple rule and shut down the forum?
If you have a complain about your favorite class, it is invalid because you can play something else. Easy....
Dps as a healer ? Play dps. Too much buttons ? play something with less. Not enough dps ? Play something with more. Not difficult enough? Elden Ring. Not easy enough? Candy Crush.
    Amazing isnt it ? *sigh*

What's funny about these 'sylphies', sometimes they're not rock bottom in performance and is actually pressing a lot more Glares than they think they did. Even 'sylphies' can still press a lot more Glares than their supposed healy buttons as a healer. By their own logic, they should've played a DPS job too.

    Hands off those green icons!

Funny ? No not any more. I wonder about one thing, if the healers get a dps rotation nothing changes for these people they still would play the same and the could go one about their day without any problem but if we would change healing it would make healer more difficult and they could not go on like they used to. For that reason i believe these people hate healers and just want a easy carry aka beeing lazy.

    Done.

All the "non-true" healers quit the role by play a dps job or another game completely. Leaving only cure 1 sylphies left to play the role.

Then players with your mentality can come to the forums to complain about how dungeons are taking too long to complete, and enrage checks are impossible because healers are not contributing dps.
