Yeah, that I do remember. Problem is announcing they were buffing pieces of the rotation sort of showed they were wrong to begin with. Ah, is what it is.Bear in mind they had to give SAM band-aid buffs in 6.11 shows it was a rushed change. Can't have a meme rotation in Yukikaze > Hagakure > Shinten spam doing just as much if not more than what the devs projected with the 6.1 changes. This would prove they were wrong and can't have that; especially considering all the white-knights coming out to defend them.
Most points in support of 6.1 changes and Kaiten removal, are just all outright abysmal. Excl. Enpi QoL change. From the players PoV...
- Did it Fix Button Bloat / Action bloat? " No "
In-fact we litter our opener with Gyoten and there are plenty of other buttons to remove before Kaiten.
- Did Kaiten removal Fix DPS variance? " No "
In-fact we still have it it's just less, and this could have been separately addressed without removing Kaiten. In-fact DPS variance never stood in the way of clearing any content " ever ". This sounds more like a parsing/FFLogs issue vs an actual FFXIV in-game issue.
- Did it improve Samurai Gameplay? " No "
Samurai is a Melee-caster. Building up towards casting big-hits that now not only feel dumbed down in execution? but also lowered in DPS-output in the moment. A big part why Samurai felt so satisfying. Kaiten was the only thing that stopped the Kenki gauge from being a mindless spammable Shinten/Kyuten gauge.
- To whom were these changes meant for? " No Idea "
Most Samurai's were, in-fact a survey out of 3000 players done where Samurai mains were the most satisfied with their job's playstyle before 6.1. No clue who asked for these changes, nor what it was supposed to address. Samurai's had little to complain before 6.1 only to be littered with issues and neglect after 6.1.
Thus to clarify -> Kaiten removal... literally fixed nothing !!
Kaiten existing did not gatekeep players to clear any content nor play Samurai. The most casual of Samurai's did not swarmed the forums on how badly their fingers were breaking in half due to needing to cast Kaiten. It didn't improve anything. It only dumbed down our job, made it less satisfying and turned our resource gauge into a spammable Shinten/Kyuten gauge.
As for the excuse that they would improve our job going into Endwalker? that's great... of which we have not seen those new skills and changes no. So until that happens? they did nothing.
I can be terse and direct. There's not much to do about it, other than have a better reaction to it. If there's a thought to provoke, it's to provoke actual thought. If anyone's provoking, it's the person that does a poor job of guessing how I play. Bug them about that as well or just leave me be.
I played SAM (and the other jobs) plenty (I make it a point to actually learn for myself and so I can possibly help others if something seems off). When I got back to it for EW, I didn't miss Kaiten, especially with a new attack combo added. The rage is excessive, especially when I can be in a conversation about something totally unrelated and someone will randomly cry about Kaiten. I understand changes like this can be difficult to adjust to, but damn....

Doubly so since the change wasn't intended to buff low potencies so much as it was to stop a meme rotation where Yuki spam outdide using Midare. Again, showing that it was not a change that was well though out.Bear in mind they had to give SAM band-aid buffs in 6.11 shows it was a rushed change. Can't have a meme rotation in Yukikaze > Hagakure > Shinten spam doing just as much if not more than what the devs projected with the 6.1 changes. Exactly.
Our big hits are changed to feel empty, with our rotation feeling hollow. The changes from 6.1 I try to fish for a justification and nothing to be found. It felt impulsively implemented, making it come off as lazy.
So I guess I can ask the following
- Will they give Kaiten back? My expectation " No ".
- Do I sense plenty wanting it back? " Yes ".
- What if Kaiten returns and applies Auto-Crit buff? " Perhaps ".
- And if Kaiten comes back in that way, will be enough? For me? " No ".
To me nothing was more satisfying then 6.08 Samurai. And of course that can differ in opinion. But, compared to 6.1? yes I find 6.08 flawless. We have over 120 threads now all revolving pleading/demanding Kaiten to come back or 6.1 changes being horrible or a revert of the changes to a prior state i.e 6.08 Samurai, 7+ youtube video's of different content creators, not to mention the JP forums that was practically on fire...
I doubt the Dev's are oblivious of the negative feedback. I just find these changes being done paired with silence to our requested feedback... silence 3 months while being able to address everything else? just utterly insulting.
Took me 20 seconds to see that Celesti's "guess" was spot on to the type of player you are, go troll somewhere else. You're entitled to your opinion, but when you make these claims without knowing me and what I've done in game, you just make yourself look foolish. Carry on though. This is surely what will bring back your little button.
Sad doesn't begin to describe the sight of these attacks and the focus of the thread changing to me and my opinion. It just goes to show you have no real argument for bringing this skill back.
That's cute. Show me.
Don't fault me for perpetuating this tangent. You're the ones with this fascination and vast knowledge of people you've never played with.

Imagine being an omni-crafter, yet can't make a decent signature. But grats on I " Made That: Weaver IV " as of yesterday?
If you cared enough to read the posts (which you don't)
On the points made (that you will selectively ignore)
Or maybe perhaps click here to our " Compiled SAM Threads against 6.1 changes and Kaiten Removal " and read with over 100 threads and 100 Samurai's voicing their points/frustrations/dislike towards 6.1 and Kaiten Removal (again which you won't read)
Or at the bottom of said thread click the feedback of youtube creators over 7 video's about the Kaiten removal and changes (which you won't delve into) you might be able to grasp on how many players dislike the changes compared to your argument point of " It is useless ".
Now you might claim to sound " blunt " as you put it? but compared to that? I " Could Be Savage ".
If you have something to bring to the Thread other then " it is useless ", we're all ears. But by the looks of your post history of poor takes on multiple subsections and different thread topics that rarely gets support... I highly doubt it.
And let me guess... you're going to respond again with just only defending yourself and not your argument point? Won't surprise me... again " Just a Guess "
I don't think the intent was to completely remove it, there will always be variance.- Did Kaiten removal Fix DPS variance? " No "

The intent was to reduce it which they did accomplish.
I definitely disagree with them tho that it was somehow necessary for SAM, even when looking at that there's other Jobs that have far more severe issues with RNG in this regard *cough* MNK *cough*.
It's just a very bizarre change even with their given reasoning.
It really is a tasteless method of change they went with. Though on the other hand, one can always point to this just being the start in how they intend to change crit in general, I'd been hearing stuff like that all of May, and if that's the case, then again, why do it incrementally instead of all at once in the next expansion? It's so weird.I don't think the intent was to completely remove it, there will always be variance.
