They've had plenty of chances to add loot boxes, more so when they got super poplar, and didn't. They could have implemented plenty of systems to monetize XIV to hell and back and didn't. I see no reason why they'd ever implement NFTs on XIV, more so with what Yoshida said.

I guess I could be wrong.

Funnily enough, I think a lot of the reason they don't add more of this, is actually due to it all being too much work to do so. The mogstation doesn't even get updated that often. I am more on the radical side, I would like to see more outfits added to the mogstation - loot boxes, overly aggressive season (or 'battle') passes is where I draw the line though. Really, I just hate battle passes regardless. They are designed as fomo manipulation.

Yoshida has gone back on his words nearly a hundred times over the years. Not necessarily because he was "lying" but because plans change and because he can at best "advise" his superiors who still have the last call.
When he says something is happening or not happening it doesn't imply more than the likelihood of the opposite outcome being low at the moment he responded. It never implies it will not happen.

Yoshida said he wanted the combat in the game encourage expression, creativity and effort in the past. Yoshida today says content outside high-end raids must allow for bad players to be carried and every job in a role should essentially play the same.
Yoshida said there would be no house demolition system. Right now we only have it temporarily disabled due extraordinary circunstances in the real world.
Yoshida said house pricing would differ between FC plots and single player plots. That's not at all how it was implemented.
Yoshida said they were not interested in implementing another kind of light-party instanced content after Deep Dungeons. Only a half dozen months later talks of Criterion Dungeon happen.

MSQ writing proceeds to force bias towards specific characters being 100% correct until backlash that same Yoshida was SURPRISED by makes them consider throwing a bone in form of an optional quest.

There's a couple of Nier statues that range from around $1k and the more expensive one is nearly $3k. They also had a $14,000 Terra Branford statue on the store not too long ago. Considering it was limited to 600 made in total and it is no longer listed, safe to say they were all bought up. Their store makes serious bank. The only figures I have ever bought from the store were the Devola/Popola Automata pack, and that was only because they were on sale at the time, and even then they were still expensive by most standards. Worth it, but expensive. The prices on there are truly something else. I'd love to be able to casually spend my money on a lot of things there because they have some wonderful items, but it's just not in the cards.
