Dream scenario: NieR Replicant trial crossover.

Because there's a lack of original content in the game or something? Having the occasional crossover doesn't really take away from the game imo.

Key word: occasional.

NieR greatly overstayed its welcome in the game already, getting an unusually long plot and drawn-out busywork compared to other alliance raids, with the non-raid episodes, umpteen trips back through the raid settings and extended weekly quests – and it did absolutely nothing to sell the series to me.

I've come away with no more idea of the crossover characters' personalities than when I began, and the story presentation was all over the place. The dwarves' initial scheming motivations evaporated unexplained and finale was just a weird jumble of symbolism with little or no foreshadowing.

I haven't minded most of the other crossovers where they are thoroughly integrated into the setting and take the time to build their own significance into the plot – the exception being Ivalice which has the opposite problem of delivering too much text dump of new information that doesn't tie into anything else.

There are a lot of things that I like, but that doesn't mean I want to see one mixed into the other. Different narratives create their own worlds and crossing them over doesn't inherently make them any better.

That ain't cause of Nier, that's cause of dev team's lack of care that they'd just chop Hrothgar ears off instead of seriously working on it... they just happen to pick Nier hair instead out of the tons of better styles they could've gone with.

The lack of ears is on the devs (whatever the logic behind it) but the "choice" of hairstyles seems to be down to the NieR styles being the most recently produced ones. They most likely knew behind the scenes that they would be expanding hairstyles to Viera and Hrothgar, and so made the styles they were currently modelling compatible. Timing and chance meant that was the NieR styles, rather than a specific decision.

Likewise, the other ones being unlocked are a mix of the newest or oldest styles systematically rather than best choices.

It seemed like a lot of people are upset with the fact that the ShB alliance raid was "taken up" by the NieR Automata crossover so they basically don't want any more NieR content in the game of any kind.

I was fully on board with the idea of an alliance raid being taken up by Nier until we actually got the alliance raid and it was the most atrociously bad piece of writing we have ever gotten in this game to this day.
The vocal opposition to more Nier content stems from the massive disappointment, cause people wanted it to be amazing to justify it taking up such a major spot in the expansion. In a game with a finite amount of content and resources, opportunity cost is always going to be a thing.

As a result, people would rather not take the risk again, and therefore oppose more Nier content (or sometimes crossover content in general, though personally I really enjoyed The Great Hunt as it was small, unintrusive and fit well where they put it) where they can.

I love NieR, it's one of my top 5 video game series, but I think enough is enough. I personally loved the NieR raids as they were like a themed amusement park ride from start to finish. However, if you're not into NieR, it left a lot of people wondering what in the hell it had to do with FFXIV (as the previous Alliance Raids all tied into the main plot or side content) and why it was there. For superfans, it's great, especially with the glams, the familiar (and remixed) tracks, getting to see old bosses with new coats of paint, and the fun of seeing what else Yoko Taro has stored in that crazy cranium of his. Not saying that casual fans can't appreciate all these things, but the NieR raids were more of a highly intricate advertisement for Drakenier with ton of fanservice for those who have bothered to stay on Yoko Taro's wacky ride for all these years.

For every time I squealed at seeing all my faves, there's also someone like my husband who still hasn't finished the raids because he doesn't share my passion and has zero motivation to get excited about rhythm rings like me. The fights are good, the music is good, the glams are (debatably) good, but it basically stops there for the normal player. The average FFXIV player wants more FFXIV, not more NieR. Three raids + weekly quests afterwards is more than enough. I'd personally prefer whatever collab comes next is more in line with the Monster Hunter one.

I liked the rhythm rings, they reminded me of Drakengard. I just don't like Nier and would turn the collab off for alliance roulette if I could. It's the reason I avoid alliance roulette.

As much as I hate the NieR crossover that last part makes no sense. You got the male equivalent of the 2b coffer...the exact same coffer with the exact same outfit. It's simply a unisex dress, like the Spring Dress, the Bridesmaid's Dress or the Boulevardier's Dress.


Now whether or not you like wearing that dress on a male character is a different topic.

A male equivalent to the feminine 2b coffer…..as in its a female based glam, give a male alternative for the male players that don’t want to wear women’s clothes. It makes sense just use common sense please.

Wr lost out on an incredibly comfy looking pair of shorts and the Destroyer armor. Or alternatively, A2's aesthetically pleasing charred flesh if you're into that sorta thing.
