Ah, Necrotica's back on her 'the WoL was a bad person during ARR' kick.

Yeah, tribe treatment was one of the many things that the writers and characters both got better about over time. Qiqirn and goblins are a bit of a different case than groups like the amal'jaa are, though, because they aren't tempered; that means that they're in full control of their faculties... which means that they did those things willingly. Something Necrotica glossed over was that the dropped egg did shatter, so a big thing that angers the ranchers of Bentbranch is that an actual life was lost; doesn't excuse it all, but explains that they're going 'eye for an eye' rather than purely 'gotta kill for the sake of it'.

Everyone got better about that over time, and the last time we dealt with qiqirn in a negative way were the ones in the Ziggurat in Stormblood--and those guys were kidnapping and eating people, so can't exactly say we were in the wrong on that. Unfortunately the qiqirn never got a specific storyline on the Source (they were going to be one of the Stormblood tribes, but the namazu proved unexpectedly popular), so they never really got a storyline actually saying that we were cool with them.
