If you're talking about Lyse's outfit, you should know unless you're new (and you probably are, given your data) that ingame NPC outfits have never been dyeable or adaptable to any gender.Seriously, the SECOND recently released costume set being undyable, really hoping y'all can stop this trend when it comes to the outfits. It's sad because people will still buy it cause it comes with the hair. :/ I know the streetwear is coming soon and that it will likely be dyable, FWIW. But it still doesn't make this set less sucky.
Just wondering why we can't get something so something as to making it dyable? What limitations are there? If we're going to pay real money on top of a subscription for a cash shop, at least give us a bit of a courtesy and allow a bit of customization
You want dyeable outfits, there are outfits for 16,30 €, make yourself happy.
Jesus, this might be one the most pointless posts I've ever seen on this thread lol. And they adapted it to fit Roes and Lalas, the two races that obviously don't fit the standard models (or any of the NPC races iirc, except Krile and Papy).
Btw, I'm not that new-new. I rejoined the game recently but I first joined in 2015. But go on lol
Also, I have dyable mogstation outfits, thanks. It doesn't mean I can't be disappointed that they've made another undyable outfit in 2022.![]()

Uh, what this has to do with the issue? Other outfits being dyeable won't change the fact that Lyse's outfit is the one I want, but in a different color. Different items.
This is like you going into a store for a t-shirt and the sales person trying to convince you to buy a dress because they don't have the t-shirt in the color you like.
The best part about that non-answer to me is that they looked through my Lodestone. Even if you want to call me a new player, isn't this a bad look that a NEW player is calling the new cash shop item lazy and you have people of varying play lengths agreeing? lolUh, what this has to do with the issue? Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy the game on a whole. Hell, I really liked EW, and I like what this game has to offer most of the time, otherwise I wouldn't play it. But you have healers at their worst right now, tanks being homogenized (sorry if spelled badly, don't feel like looking up correct spelling), hrothgar/viera fiasco, the whole addon controversy, BLM overbuffed. I got hit by the housing bug, in the middle of a personal housing shortage or whatever you want to call it, and while we have that, we're in between patches where there hasn't been a huge controversy. Talk about new player experience lol! The undyable, onesie outfit back-to-back is just icing on top.
I wouldn't even put this outfit issue among those other problems, because (I might be mistaken on this because I didn't read it myself) somebody mentioned that it was stated that the Mogstation team is separate from the game. The best part about that non-answer to me is that they looked through my Lodestone. Tbh the origin of the problem doesn't change much about the end user experience in this case
I also love the game and wouldn't have bought this outfit anyway because I think every part of it except the hair and maybe the pants are pretty ugly buuuut I see their point about just... A pile of unfortunate things kinda piling up
Makes even the minor grievances sting a lil more

Even if it's a different team, it's still going into the game. So we should be expecting the same/better quality as the normal team IMO.
I assume that hairstyles work differently and don't have a colour actually assigned to them, so it just draws from the character model information automatically?
From looking at character data on other sites, it seems that the hair colour has to be set correctly for NPCs as well and can occasionally go wrong.
I don't know how many people noticed it, particularly since NPCs get so crowded-around when patches first launched, but in 5.3 one instance of the Exarch was missing the white highlights in his hair (each time a character changes location it's technically a different NPC) and they had to correct it with a later update.
Armor, skin and hair do indeed use different methods to assign color to them.
Skin and hair use whatever value you set it to in the character creator, I assume the devs have something less "visual" to design hundreds of NPCs, probably just a menu with a bunch of numerical values, which might also explain how things occasionally go wrong.
Armor pieces on the other hand have dye channels assigned to them with a pretermined color, for when it's undyed, a toggle for whether or not a part is dyeable and settings for how it changes color when you dye it, like cloth being very matte while plate armor often has a metallic sheen to it.
