So THAT'S why people are upset at secret questions. Why would you post that sort of info online if you know you are using it for security reasons? It would be like plastering your address and phone number online. lol
Have you seen how many people respond to those images of "post your _______", and it's usually something that would be a security question option. Any time I see those on FB there are thousands of answers. That is how scammers end up with a lot of potential answers.

No, they are deemed bad since many people forget what they type on those ones or how they type it since it needs the correct format. I don't remember, could have been Microsoft or Google who had the same opinion that its bad system and needs more secure one which is also easier for everyone to use without hazzle. Can't find the article since its been years.

Depends who’s upset. It causes people to worry when companies implement jank security like what else are they doing @_@
Secret questions and answers are LESS secure than passwords and always have been. By their very nature you reuse said secrets at many products and services and unlike passwords they get stored encrypted (hopefully, at least) instead of hashed, so when a database gets compromised, the most likely things to be compromised isn’t your passwords, but you “secrets” that can be used to change your password, and sometimes even email accounts.
Short story: secret words make any system LESS secure
